Greetings, I'm Professor Kay. And in this short video presentation, we're going to see how we go about authorizing a Windows 2016 DHCP server. I'm currently logged on to my DC one, I have Server Manager up and running. So let's go on up to tools. And we're going to proceed on over to the DHCP Management Console. Go ahead and make this full screen.
Go ahead and broaden out this left window pane little bit. Now if you expand the name of your DHCP server, you'll notice that sometimes there may be a red Down Arrow, let you know that the scope is not working. You open up the scope, you right click on it, and there's nothing in here that you can do to get started, oftentimes, this is just a result of the DHCP server not being authorized. to authorize a DHCP server. All you have to do is Go up to the name of your DHCP server, right click, and from the context menu, select Authorize. Once you refresh, you'll notice that the arrow turns from Red going down to green going up.
Once you do complete the refresh or you restart the DHCP Management Console, when you come back into it, if you've authorized the DHCP server correctly, you'll notice that there will be a green checkmark letting you know that everything is now working. So in this short video presentation, we got to see how we go about authorizing the DHCP server on a server 2016 machine
