Rhodiola and sleep rhodiola is another one of my favorites. The official name is rodea rhodiola rosea. And it's an herb it can be used in alone or in combination. I particularly take it alone during the day but it's also found in some of the sleep supplements that are commonly available for nighttime use the benefits of rhodiola as it can really help with immunity. Sleep deprivation is one of the huge things that suppresses our immune system that along with stress, and also decreases inflammation. talked previously about inflammation and pain as a hamper to a good night's sleep.
And if we can decrease some of that by using rhodiola it certainly has the potential to improve quality sleep. It works by regulating neurotransmitters so you can see serotonin and norepinephrine there which might be counterintuitive. We're talking about sleep and I mentioned in the melatonin discussion that serotonin, daytime, melatonin, nighttime, but I'll get into how this works. In the next couple slides, so the benefits, it helps with stress. It helps with fatigue helps with sleep disturbances, which is why you're here. Also with irritability.
Obviously, if you're sleeping poorly, you're going to be more irritable, and it helps boost work performance. So how can it do all those things that seem to be across the spectrum of emotion there? Well, rodeo is one of the adaptogens rhodiola and ashwagandha are probably the two most well known adaptogens but rhodiola it helps to stabilize the physiologic processes and restores balance, that's the goal, right? We want to balance things out to have an even keel. And by promoting homeostasis. rhodiola is able to do that that helps our bodies adapt to stress, which is a huge problem, whether you realize it or not for nearly everybody that I encounter.
