Hi, welcome to this course. My name is Loretta. I'm an English coach from San Francisco, California. And I made this course for you, if you have problems understanding native speakers, or native speakers have problems understanding you. Because maybe you know a lot of words, and maybe your grammar is really good. But if you can't understand native speakers, and they can't understand you, then there's no communication.
And that's what's important. So in this course, we're going back to the basics. First we're going to look at why English pronunciation is so difficult. Then we'll go through the basic sounds of the English alphabet. We'll look at some commonly mispronounced words, because English words don't sound the way they are spelled. And that's why I also want to give you an interview direction to phonetic spelling, but that will be later.
So and then we're going to practice some difficult cells in English that many non native speakers have problems with, like the th sound, the V, the W, the AR and the L sound. And then we're going to train your ears. I'm going to read you some short children's nursery rhymes. nursery rhymes are great for hearing the natural pronunciation, and rhythm and music of English. And we'll do some tongue twisters. tongue twisters are good for getting the tongue and the mouth and the lips in the right position so that the English sounds come out correctly.
At the end of the course, I will give you some tips on how you can practice Is your pronunciation at home. So let's get to it. See you in the first lesson.
