The process map is about process steps. So when you look at the sidewalk, you will see the starting point, the ending point and the process inside is just a 111 box one box with your process name. And today we are going to take the process out of the cyborg and create the process map. What is very important is that starting point on your sidewalk and starting point on your process map should be the same ending point or near Cyborg and ending point on your process map should be the same as well.
Why? Because we need to be very consistent between orders on product Arthur, what is the process what is on sidewalk and later on is on process map it should be the same process and the same starting and ending point. Okay, so let's let's move on, please go to go for six sigma.com and upload your product template, you will find the top with a process map there. And there are many options. You can create the process map just having a paper and draw the process map on the paper. You can use post it notes, small, yellow papers to for each parish process step or you can use my template which is very, very easy and hopefully you find it useful.
You can Use ms visual, it's very great tool to create more advanced process map. But for your first six sigma Green Belt project, please keep it short and simple. So let's go to the project template, you will see that the process map so the process map has a starting point and ending point. The process map has boxes, that process steps, it's very important that you will use like a verb for each process step. So, for example, create something upload something and deliver something. So action please make sure that process step is about action.
And please add the number next to it process steps or you will see the flow of the of the process that also like a decision box because sometimes the process has like two flows. For example, is the approval needed? Yes, we go to another box. If the approval is no needed, we just go to and different different process process steps. So please make sure you will add all that decision steps in your process map as well. So how to create the process map?
What is the best approach here? Like from my perspective, the best way to create the process map is to take people who are involved in the process as soon as we add them together in one room and create the process map together. So what is the starting point? What is the ending point? What are the process step? why it's so important.
First is about the change management. So you're involved people in this activity and the second If you can, all you can mark on the process map the steps that are like are related with your problem statement on product order. So, when you look at the problem statement on product order, and maybe the problems are related to the process and you can with people to vote people confirm where the problems are located on process map. So, this is very important that you will create the process map together with your with your team members. And as the last step, the process map is very important as well because you will see later in improved phase, what is the change? What are the changes implement in the process steps, because if you change the process, if the problem is in process, maybe you need to To change the process steps, maybe you need to reduce number of process step by steps.
Maybe you need to add one more process step. So depends what is your project objective? And what is the problem, you can modify the process map. And it's very powerful to show after the project is completed. What is the assess the current state process map now, the one that you are going to prepare now, and what is there and the future the improved process map. So when very often you compare those two process maps and then very powerful when you can see the change implemented.
So for example, the SS process map from defined face was very complicated, and we make the process easier. So now it's easier to complete the process. And that's why please make make sure that your process map is addressing the problem from Cyborg and from product out there and as well, it can be like very like a team building activity and fun. So, please make sure that team members are involved and you have fun with creating your process map. You can also like have the process map later next to your team. So, the process map can be very visible in your in the place you are working.
So, if somebody will come and ask what is your process order the process steps and the person from the process map can see very easily what are the steps needed for the process to be completed. And as the last step, the process map can be also used for like a new hire somebody new will come to your team, the process map can be very good tool to teach the person what is the process or how the process will be done. So think about the process map as a great tool to understand the process to allocate problems. But also the process map can be used in different situations, like with the new hires in your team.
