Transition is basically something that gets you from one clip to another clip. Right now I don't have any transitions. So the clips just go from one to the other. Like that, which is totally fine. But if you want to put a transition between a clip, let's zoom in here, you're going to hit that little plus box between the clips. And then you get some options up here.
They have a whole bunch of transitions that you can choose from. But if you want to preview them, you just select it. And you'll see you have a little preview over there, you can also change the length of the transition. Some of them are really crazy and silly and you probably wouldn't use that necessarily, but feel free to go through there and check them out. The only thing I'd really suggest using most of the time would be a crossfade, which is just a slow dissolve between two clips. So let's say I want to use that one.
See how it's checked it there for me, I'm gonna check off of the screen. Okay, so that faded between the clips. If I don't like it, I can come back to select it and hit none. And it'll go away. The main thing I'd recommend with transitions is to start with a transition from black to your first clip, and then end the same way fade out to black. And you actually do that not up here, but over here on this Settings menu.
So let's click that. If you click on video down here, you've got the option, video fade in video fade out. You can change the time, you can make it really slow or really short. I'll just do one second and two seconds out. And now if I play, you see that nice soft dissolve up and then at the end it'll dissolve out
