I'm Joe McCall. Welcome to ultimate drumming.com. This lesson is going to be about basic drum fills using eighth notes. First I'm going to play some for you they'll break them down note by note show you how they work. What two, three and four In order to play these great sound and feels you got to count eighth notes, I'm going to be playing eighth notes as I'm moving around the drums. I'm going to start with the right hand on the snare drum to the tom tom to the next tom tom to the big Tom Tom.
I'm going to use the four drums right here. I'm going to play each drum twice. I'm going to count one and two, and three and four. And now once I figured out where I'm going, I'm going to add the foot to it, the foots going to go on the numbers. So each time I say a number, I'm going to play the foot. One and two and three and four and Feel number two, I'm going to do just the opposite.
I'm going to start on the big TomTom and move in a counterclockwise direction. This time, I'm going to start with the left hand. One and two, and three and four. Fill number three. I'm going to make a z pattern. I'm going to start on the small Tom Tom, next biggest TomTom snare drum.
Big Top, one and two, and three and four. And the next pattern I'm going to show you is going to be what I call an X pattern. Starting on the snare drum to the second highest Tom Tom to Hi Tom Tom two big Tom Tom, what and two and three and four. And so you got some cool combinations of films that you can use. The main ideas get you exploring around the drums trying different directions so you can create your own interesting type of fills. A really good way to practice these fills is to combine them with a rock beat.
So what I'm going to do is play at a medium tempo two measures of a rock B two measures of a fill a what Now I'm going to pick up the tempo a little bit.
