There is no illusion greater than fear, says Lao Tzu. Don't resist feel the fear to its fullest and move through it. Mastering fear any kind is the very same formula as transcending pain. Let's just take a look at fear. Fear is a valid response to physical and or emotional danger. Fear protects us from legitimate threats.
Fear is not the enemy, it's our friend. Think about it. Even if you're an immediate physical danger, so such as someone trying to break into your house when you're home alone, immediately fear kicks in is the better response to panic and lose all emotional control or is the better response to feel the fear immediately move through the other side of it so you can quickly think of the best option to protect yourself. Let me give you a An example of something that happened for me. When my husband and I were hiking in the high rocky mountains where there's no other sign of human life. Basically, we temporarily separated because there was something I wanted to explore and he wanted to rest.
So I went ahead. And when I turned around to hike back to where he was up ahead of me about 100 feet or so, right where I had to walk was a coyote. He just stood there looking at me, and I had him. Did I feel fair at that point? Yes, I did kind of shot through me. But I had to immediately move through it, which didn't mean I didn't still feel it just like the transcending of pain.
And on the other side of it, I was able to clearly think and evaluate how can I detour here and not have to cross this coyotes path as I was evaluating my options and scanning the areas in front of me and around me and looking at Okay, What path can I take what alternate area is there for me to move into, I decided that I would take a long detour around the path that was on. Then all of a sudden, I saw my husband standing on top of a higher mountain area above where the path where the coyote was. It turns out he had changed his position for where I had left him. And he motioned to me to climb up to the area, which was an option I wasn't even considering since it was further away from where he was originally. So I was able to move in that direction, start the climb right where I was, and completely avoided the coyote who was still standing on the path ahead.
Now, my point here is that no matter what situation you're facing, if you can master not panicking, and even though you feel the fear, move through it quickly to the other side, where you can take a minute action to protect yourself or take immediate action to remove blocks from reaching your full potential. Now, let's look at our fears and see why is fear and illusion. Most of our fears are of something that hasn't happened yet. Think about that. Other than immediate threat of physical danger, our fears are something that hasn't happened yet. Fear is like making up a story and projecting it into the future.
Take the example of the story I just shared. Would you be afraid to go hiking again in the high mountains if you had that experience? And if so, why? Is it because you are projecting into the future making up a story In your head, that it's dangerous out there because you might encounter another coyote or something even more dangerous. It's no different with emotional or psychological fears you're afraid to get into a relationship because it might end in divorce. Or you're afraid to speak in front of people because they might judge you or you might make a mistake.
You won't drive a car because there's so many accidents out on the road and on and on and on. But none of these things have happened, and probably never will, unless you focus so constantly intently upon them that you draw to yourself. So if you can make up a story of something awful happening, you can make up a story that something awesome will happen. Why not? Fear is an illusion because it's not real. It's only meant to serve as a warning sign that you're in danger or being held back or whatever the message is.
It was never meant to be something that holds us back from following our dreams and fulfilling our reason for being Are you afraid of failure? Well, failure is a part of learning. And there's a saying of successful people fail forward. And what that means is, you learn the lesson, you learn from the experience, and you just keep moving. So the formula is, when fear appears, don't resist it. That results in panic or stopping you completely.
Feel it fully and immediately move through it to the other side so you can take the right action in your given situation. Again, it doesn't mean that you won't have butterflies or actual fear when you go out to speak to an audience or ask your boss for a razor drive on the freeway for the first time. It just means that you recognize the feeling And act anyway. You know the saying, feel the fear and do it anyway. But you don't want to be inside the fear. When you take action.
You move through it to the other side, and you will master any fear you could possibly muster up. Remember, fear is not your enemy. It's your friend. make peace with fear. Don't fear it. Remember what Franklin D Roosevelt said, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Here's your exercise for today. Think of the fear you have or have had. You can start with a small one. This doesn't have to be the biggest thing that you've ever feared. I want you to write it in your journal. Write that story that you've created around Particular fear, just choose one for now.
Then below that story, I want you to write your new story that projects a positive future in that same scenario, so you're you're reversing, you're going to the positive side of this fear in the story that you created about it. Then I want you to cross out the original story. How does the new story make you feel? Where are you in your vibration in your consciousness about this particular fear? reread your news story every day, for a week and evaluate at the end of that week, are you more confident regarding this situation? Take a little time to really reflect on this whole concept of mastering your fears I'll see you in the next lesson.
