The last lid I'm going to show you is probably the most common style of lid when working with the flange on the lid, and this is going to be combining the flange with the dome. So that dome again is going to open up a lot of possibilities you can do these much larger and also with this type of lid. You can have some exaggerated overhang on your pieces, which can be a lot of fun especially if you're talking more decorative pieces or a bottle with an elongated neck and that overhang to continue the flow of the body in connection with the lid there and take my measurement. Again, planned on the inside of the piece out there. I'm going to center this up and we throw it just like a shallow bowl in my room nice and thick. Once I feel like I'm getting close to where that plant should be, I'm just gonna take a little extra clay and leave that there from my flange and then continue with the rest of this clay on the outside to create our overhang.

No third flange area want to make sure it's not too sharp, not too thin and it's going to be our danger area. checker measurement is looking pretty good about there. gonna clean up my edges. A little bit of a different twist on this one. I know this is gonna have some overhang the edge of the vessels gonna fit right about in here. So I have about a half inch quarter to half inch area here to play with and might just give it a little bit of movement.

So it's gonna be looked like a little bit of a skirt flowing around that and then we will Come in and trim this up. Okay, just different this up for a minute we'll come in and finish. Okay, now that our lid has had a chance to set up, let's flip it upside down and put on our finishing touches I should say right side up Okay, now we have our distortions around the room. So I'm just gonna focus on this upper area to recenter. Work. There's a couple ways you could go about this.

You could use bigger lugs to catch the lip or smaller lugs to catch underneath the clay here. I think I'm just gonna go a little bit bigger with mine. Come in and trim our lid Kind of like this curve right here, so don't try to play that up just a little bit. That might help to saturate a little skirted area we have there. I'm gonna echo that skirt area in the handle itself too. So I'm working I'm thinking about the overall shape and how everything's gonna tie together.

Come back in the small ball of clay to throw our knob with darlin, either your fingernail or the spoon side of your wooden knife throw down first to make sure I'm secure to the nice connection with the lid itself. All right, let's see how it was fair. Turn off echoes. Ship our lid all right and it looks like a nice tight fit should work in this kind of a fun lid. Now ideally I'd probably include a little bit of movement within the base form to continue the flow through the piece. But to just to illustrate these different styles of lids again, I've got that nice basic shape.
