Hey everyone. Welcome to this lecture introduction to Minitab super statistical software. Minitab is one of the most widely used statistical softwares. Its popularity is not only limited to Six Sigma professionals and statisticians, but also to business analysts and analytical experts across the globe. So what is Minitab? Minitab is a statistical software Minitab provides you a simple effective way to input statistical data manipulated, identify trends and patterns, and then extrapolate answers to the problem at hand.
For the purpose of this Minitab beginner training and certification, you will need to have access to Minitab. If you don't have the access, no worries, you can always download the trial version of Minitab in the resources section of this lecture. have added the steps to download this trial version from minitab.com. We will now talk about how Minitab works. So this is how Minitab looks. I have Minitab 16 on my computer, you will most likely download Minitab 18.
Don't worry, the charts and tests you will perform on Minitab will have more or less the same steps irrespective of the different Minitab versions. So by default Minitab opens with two windows visible and one window minimized. The window in the top half of the screen is called the session window. This window displays the results of your analysis in text form. The bottom half of the screen is occupied by another window called worksheet. The worksheet which is similar to a spreadsheet is where you enter and arrange your data.
You can Open multiple worksheets. A worksheet can contain four types of data, numeric, text, date, and time project manager. The third window the project manager is minimized below the worksheet, we will not be spending too much time using this window. At the top of the screen, you will find many drop down buttons in the menu bar. the File menu helps you open, save and print files. The Edit menu is helpful for Undo and Redo actions and stuff such as cut, copy and paste.
The data menu helps you arrange the data. You can subset and merge worksheets, stacked columns and do more stuff here. The calc menu, calculate statistics and generates data as per your requirement. The stat menu helps you perform regression ANOVA control charts and also use other quality tools. The graph menu has graphical tools such as scatterplot, bar, charts, histograms, etc. Then there are a bunch of other menus.
Last but not the least Minitab help is a very user friendly section. If you're serious about learning Minitab you can explore Minitab help and do a lot of self learning.
