You are working as a manager in a transaction processing business. you capture the average handle time data of your team, you want to examine the daily average handle time performance of your team. For this situation, you can always use the display descriptive statistics tool. However, if you want more information beyond just the descriptive statistics, you can always use a graphical summary. A graphical summary includes four graphs histogram of data with an overlaid normal curve boxplot 95%, confidence intervals for mean and 95% confidence intervals for the median. The graphical summary also displays a table of Anderson darling normality test, descriptive statistics and confidence intervals for mean median and standard deviation.
Looking at these numbers, you can easily gauge the average handle time performance of your team. You don't have to spend time observing the individual performance of each team member to identify how the team has progressed. A few key points to note resources. If you are fairly new to the concepts of confidence interval, normality test, etc. No worries. I have added a downloadable document with definitions of critical items in the resources section of this lecture for your reference.
Please feel free to download and view offline. When can you use the graphical summary tool. When the data columns are numeric, the optional grouping column also known as the by column can be numeric can be text or date and time. It Must be the same length as the data columns. Minitab automatically omits missing data from the calculations. Before we proceed to draw the graphical summary on Minitab I think it is important to outline the differences between descriptive statistics and this tool which is graphical summary.
Let's do that in the next lecture.
