Hi, by now you should have set your goals for the three most important areas in your life, personal health, relationships in business. Normally, you would have long term as well as short term goals and a critically important aspect that will determine how much effort you put into the realization of these goals. He's your reason why Welcome to success habit number nine. Your reason why, what is your reason why, here's how I understand it. For me, my reason why is a source of power, it is my drive, I have noticed that they have goals where my reason why is strong and others where it is weak. And when I look in the past all of the goals I have a strong reason why I achieved now I want to help you define or clarify your reason why I will talk about general terms, but I want you to listen and preferably get the list of goals you have set for yourself.

I want you to look at them while I'm talking. Wait a minute, would you say you haven't written your goals down yet? If you haven't, you better do this right now, I recommend you go through the course from habit number one onwards. If you skip the first several habits, I want to let you know that habit number two is the lecture for setting goals. Now, I would assume that you have your goals in front of you. It is not a secret that our behavior is influenced by two primary forces, pain and pleasure.

Our behavior is influenced by two primary forces pain and pleasure. I will do a particular activity to avoid pain or to gain pleasure. It is normal that we associate the achievements of our goals with pleasure with particular feelings and states. These are social ideations and connections we make up in our minds and personal in very, very powerful. But sometimes if we don't look deep down in ourselves and ask what we truly want, we might set goals or do activities, which sound good, but they wouldn't give us the joy and pleasure we expect. Example, john has friends and they smoke cigarettes.

JOHN doesn't smoke, but he sees his friend smoking all the time, and they're enjoying it. JOHN might start smoking as well do this activity, the smoking, because he now thinks it's cool, and it will give him pleasure, the pleasure of feeling important of being cool, the pleasure of being like his friends. These are the associations Joe has made in his mind, but in reality, smoking sucks. In reality, john didn't like the taste, didn't like the smell of his bread. His lungs didn't like it either. But john continues to smoke because of the associations he has made in his head.

That smoking is cool and it gives pleasure. Not long after that, john becomes addicted and he doesn't continue smoking because because he feels important and cool, etc. But he continues smoking because he's addicted, and every cell of his body craves for nicotine. This example is a little harsh, but I want you to get the point. Many times we are in situations that we just copy other people's goals, not just activities and habits. We might even achieve these goals.

But we don't feel satisfied because these goals sound good, but they didn't come from us in the first place. So again, the associations and connections we make in our head, about an activity will determine how long How well we're we're going to do it. These associations might be positive or negative. They might make us feel pleasure or pain, because Peter doesn't smoke and his friends around him do. Peters best friend, however, died because of smoking too many cigarettes. Peter felt pain and sadness to an extent that he of course, smoking.

He even tries to talk his friends into quitting smoking, the same activity, different associations, different interpretations. The associations we make in our head for our goals are also as important as we do activities we do. And I talk about both goals and activities because in order to achieve a goal, you must do specific activities, some of which might not be pleasant, however, when you're Chris Don't clear with your reason why you will do them anyway. Make sense? Now I want you to take a look at your goals and ask these questions for each goal. When I achieved that goal, how would it make me feel?

What kind of pleasure will experience? And if I don't achieve that goal? How would it make me feel what kind of pain we'll experience? You can see the answers and you can say, are these strong enough motivators? Are these strong enough to help you achieve your goal? Because if they're not, I want you to reprogram yourself for success.

And the way to do that is to connect your values with your goals, to connect your values with your goals. I want to achieve that because it will give security to my family. I want to achieve that because it will give me more physical energy and I will become healthier. I won't To achieve that, because it will help the people I love, I want to achieve that because it's time for me to give back to my community. I want to achieve that because you should know that we will do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure. Interestingly enough, I learned that not when I was reading my psychology books, but when I was reading when I was learning marketing, but you know that these two fields are connected.

So if you associate not achieving a goal with with pain, your motivation will be higher, believe me, you won't procrastinate anymore. You won't be lazy. It's all about the level of importance. I know I give you a lot of things to consider and right now you might need some time that's okay. I think a quick recap would be great right now. Number one.

Your reason why is a source of power. It is your drive. You can have a stroke. Reason why for a particular goal, or you can have a weak reason why our behavior is influenced by two primary forces pain and pleasure. The associations we make in our minds about goals and activities will determine how motivated we are. We can control these associations by reprogramming ourselves for success.

Five, connect your values with your goals and give them meaning. Six, it is safe to say that we are twice as much motivated to avoid pain than to gain pleasure. Seven, if you associate not achieving a goal with pain, you will be more motivated respectively. Of course, I'm not suggesting to live with fear. I just want to clarify your reason why? My name is Vladimir I cough.

Stay purposeful.
