For my watercolor pages, even though I'm going to write on them or drawn them, I'd like to create just a simple, fast and easy background. Again, it's not complicated, and it's very subtle. So what I do is I put a what a lot of water on my palate and I get a nice heavy mopping brush. And I'll just mix some colors. And I want them to be really light and subtle. So there's just a little pigment and a lot of water.
And I'm just going to use two colors. I'm going to stick with my favorites, the blues and the greens. And I made my puddles here. And then when I hit make sure there's lots of water, lots of pigment. I'll just come over and just make some brush swatches. Just to get some pigment going on the paper.
It's no longer a white paper from there. I can really play up with it, blend the colors or not. And I really like the way the big thick brush strokes look. Go over both sides of the paper and then just let it dry. Again, I'm just trying to prevent the paper for being stark white with this dry just like that. And then with our last page just a simple background.
We'll let this dry
