So now we'll make most of our pages in the same way. Because of the size that's eight and a half by eight and a quarter, what we'll do is we'll just make sure our pages are facing with a long side, going across. And we'll just fold it in half just like this. And you can furnish it with your finger or with a burnishing tool, and I'll go and I'll do this for all the pages I'm going to use, it's much easier to burnish and fold the lighter weight paper. So the copy paper, the drawing paper, and the cardstock and then just becomes slightly more of a challenge with a watercolor paper, but it's not that hard. So I'll do the same thing here.
And I'll do this with all the pages that I'm going to use in my journal. You can use any combination, you can use, just watercolor, just drawing paper, it's totally up to you. Whatever you're comfortable with to make the pocket What I want to do is take my page and this is 12 inches across and then I cut it to make sure it's the eight and a quarter inches tall. And so what I like to do is take one of the pages that I've already folded as my guide, and I'll put it right up against the end of my paper. And then I'll fold it right over it. And this is just so that I have one page one fold that fits with the rest of them.
And then so I'll make sure that straight, it's not straight out, just refold it. And then on this part, what I'll do is I'll fold it in and I don't want to go all the way in because I want to be able to access it. So I'll just go in maybe three quarters of the way two thirds, whatever you're comfortable with. I'll put a bead of glue here in here or double sided tape and that will hold down my pocket and I can slide things into this pocket. If I want to add a pocket here, I'll just take a small scrap of paper and the So this was the remaining piece of our 12 by 12 paper when it was whole. And so I'll just take a little bit of this and I'll make the pocket.
So I'll cut off the end and I have it extended maybe half an inch or so on either side. And again, this is just a rough guide. And then I'm going to fold it in on one side about just eyeballing about proximately half an inch. And then the next one I want to do just slightly inside the fold, and I like to fold it over backwards first, so I know that it's going to fit and then I'll fold it over the way I'm going to use it. Now I cut my paper way too wide, but it's not a problem. I'll just trim that down a little here.
So I have a little bit more than half an inch and that seems to be a good way to make that pocket that has a little bit it can hold things a little thicker than a couple of sheets of paper. I also want to make a little gusset on the bottom. And so all I do is I take that and I fold that up in a straight line. And so now I have my pocket. What I'll do is I'll take my scissors and cut this square off with a little angle on either side. And this is an optional step but it makes it so that the pocket isn't as bulky as if you didn't cut it off.
And then I'll put my adhesive here, here and here. Attach it to my page. These will be attached and then I'll have my two pockets. And I'll do that and show you the final results. And there I have my completed pocket page with my smaller pocket and my larger pocket.
