So we created platforms earlier and we learn the basics of Inkscape. And we will going forward to create a platform game but this course is about most games you can imagine to the environment. So not will only be a platform and game, but I will give you a hand we doing anything else you want. So, now we will move on to how to create a character and how to animate it in the following lessons we will create a platform character and make him walk and run and jump. But before that, I want to make a top down shooter corrector. Why because it's very easy to create.
You can get a very simple animation and you can make it move. Yes, very fast and easy. And you can see the movement very fast and enjoy the fruit of your work, if you make so how is a person drawn from above usually This type of games, he has a head. He has a body highlighted in the middle. I opened with shift control a I opened a line and distributing them. I made the body a different color than the head until I make it is that we see a bit more from the back because I think he is leaning forward if he has a gun in his hand.
Then I draw the shoulder. As you see I use the Bezier tool to do that. And this is the shoulder on the arm. Control click on giving the muscles turning this a bit so the arm is a bit burnt inside. Invert. Good.
I told you already a lot of times and I'm just drawing I'm using whatever color is suitable for me at the moment. I'm concentrating now one problem getting the shape as well as good as I can. You can you can use references or what else I'm doing now. I make a guideline so I know what is the middle of my drawing More or less he is the hand. So the shoulder is changing and I don't make him such a giant biceps. Good.
And what I will do then is I replicate this hand. I don't save this now and applicate this hand and I put it here. I can select the two of them together and group it and make it in the middle. So it's this simple if I have a head here and I have the arms here for a simple shooter game, that's almost enough. I give him a gun obviously can use the same color just to keep the context that's it if you have a game like this We can make him turn and shoot. It works.
What I will do as well obviously, is create an animation out of this and how I would do that. And how I would do that if my guy is this more perfect. And this is a standing position, obviously I will create or work a bit more on the arms. So I can go into like, delete one of them and cut it off here ci path division. Now I have two parts that can create a skin color And I make it white because I'm a Hungarian and that's my skin color. So please feel free to use any color you want.
And they made this one that bit darker. Yeah. It's like the sleeve is folded back and stuff. Good. So it's a bit maybe better than believe. So if he's walking and this is what I want to do, then he has one leg always forward which in this position to be simple to create.
I send it to the back. Say this is his boots to the back and his other leg Seems to strive backwards. So his other leg is like this. And that's also I just control click, you see I put the rough shape there. And then I Ctrl click and edit it. So this is what I have.
If it's not standing but moving then the head is in the middle but the arm is wobbling a bit so you will see what I mean. I move the group up the arm and the gun. And here is the center of rotation. And if he's like is here backwards, and this forward, then probably is turning this way, a tiny bit because he's changing his fighting stance. And then I group up the whole corrector. And they just push V, you know, flip the corruptor vertically.
And you can see this is how it would look in animation a bit of moving left or right. But if I push fast, you can already see it's really looking like it's moving. So is the same thing you can do in your game, you can just every second you can flip it, or have it as two different sprites. And then you have one sprite for a standing corrector and two other for the running and that's it. So this is a top down shooter. If it's a top down shooter, then the position has to be around here.
Much better returning from our back and you can play around. So this was a very, very short one about takedown. I hope you enjoyed this is very simple one to throw us for every drawing I always say use some references. So look up in Google how a man is looking on a photo from the top down. Or if you live in a flat in the city, just look out from the window and take a look how people from top down how the head is over a bit to the front or to the back, or how the head is bopping when they are walking, how the body is turning a bit when they are walking. So always look for references to make your game a bit more real even if it's a cartoony character like this.
In the next tutorials, I will show you how to make a proper correct error cartoonlike corrected for a platform game and explain how an animation is made. A longer animation is made in Inkscape and how you export each part for animation.
