Traditional weaning is starting off with pureed foods and progressing to more of a lumpy puree and then giving finger food to babies later on. In traditional weaning, there are a couple of benefits as well. There are benefits to be introducing curry as one of their first foods. It's important to remember that parade is just another texture and it's great for baby to experience this texture as well early on. Sometimes it helps baby and parents to feel more confident in starting solids. So they're less anxious than if they were just to jump into finger food right away.
It can help teach baby proper swallowing techniques and help them move the food around in their mouth can decrease the chance of gagging early on it that much Decrease the negative experience out there experiencing. Some parents can get very anxious and concerned when baby starts gagging. parades can teach baby self spoon feeding skills. Oh pureed foods can help baby get food in their tummy. So it's a bit easier to get food into their tummy when it's three foods and a texture that they can easily manage as this age. caregivers are often providing some sort of help with spoon feeding, so it can ensure that baby is meeting some of the needs like iron and vitamin A and sink and calories.
Some of the concerns about using puree is that number one, parents might start solids earlier than baby is ready to they might start somewhere between Three to six months, which is not recommended by the World Health Organization. Number two, you might not practice responsive feeding. The parent is in control of giving the food to a baby, and you might be tempted to put the food in the baby's mouth. Number three, you might not be doing family meals with the baby, you need to be feeding the baby. And so oftentimes parents are not eating at the same time as baby number four. You could be stuck on the parade stage for way too long.
I have my parents that are doing parades until one year all because there are so worried about choking and so worried about introducing finger foods. I do recommend introducing puree and soft finger foods at the same time. So a good way to making sure that baby is meeting his needs would be for example, introducing baby cereal and then just Giving babies some soft fruits and vegetable finger foods after he has the cereal. You're making sure that a baby's need is being met and that he's getting food in his tummy, too. You're introducing different types of texture at the same time, and helping maybe practice those self feeding skips. Another concern with pureed food is that pre foods can be diluted with water or glass so that it's not as energy dense when you're giving it to the baby.
Pureed foods should be sticking to the spoon. It shouldn't fall off the spoon. It shouldn't be liquidy at all. That is a good general guideline to make sure that the pureed food you're giving baby has lots of nutrition and will meet his energy needs. If you are choosing to start with periods, I want you to keep a couple of things in mind. One, make sure that you are doing responsive feeding.
So, when you're doing spoon feeding, you can still practice responsive feeding you can let baby hold the spoon and leave this phone close to his mouth. You never want to put the spoon in baby's mouth you want to wait until he or she opens his or her mouth and take the spoonful food. Number three if it's not working, I encourage you to try something new foods to encourage tremble at the same time to find out what your baby like number four, don't forget those family meals. So really try to eat at the same time that baby is eating. Number five. Don't get stuck in the parade stage for too long.
And start off with the parade but every couple of days evaluate if you can introduce some salt and good foods to baby because the introduction of different tattoo is super important in the early years. If you are spoon feeding Baby, you want to make sure that you're sitting at baby's level and have eye contact with baby. So you don't want to be standing over baby and feeding him from straight down because the hallway baby cannot make the connection with you and you cannot watch your baby. If you're choosing a spoon for baby, you want to choose one that has a flatter head. So this one would be a good choice and a short handle. So that baby can get food out from the spoon quite easily.
This one has a fat head too but then the handle is quite long. So what happens is that baby will grab this and start swinging the food around and the food never gets into their mouth. And this is just a regular spin you can see that the the head of the spoon is that More deep and more round. It might be hard for a baby to get food
