Okay, so this is the end of the class and I'd like to do a little review. I hope you got a lot out of the PR narrative exercise. And I've internalized a lot of the secrets. Again, please, please, please, please, please put the narratives in the QA I love to read these things, or, you know, you can Twitter at me or tweet at me and I'll show you that in a couple of minutes. So let's just review real quick, seven PR secrets all founders should know that everything you do is newsworthy. I think we all can realize that in today's new cycle, there's a lot of noise, so you got to rise above the noise.
The press releases dead sort of, it can't be the only thing you do. It has to be a part of what you do. Not all PR is good. Pr hundred percent true. Make sure that if something bad does happen that you get ahead of it. You say you're sorry, you don't cover it up because the cover up is worse than the event.
The founder is different than the company, make sure that you are humble and hungry to do a good job. Don't get your ego too wrapped up in it. Sometimes people don't want to cover you, you just have to realize that that's okay. Sometimes that happens. Make sure you do press kit. Number five, great way to get people to write about you makes it easy.
Always make it simple for reporters to cover you. And you do that by giving great quotes, great content and great pictures of your product. Remember that timing is everything. The news cycle again is super short. You need to make sure that if you aren't going to do something, do it quickly follow up quickly, make sure you keep on top of it. And then of course, last one, number seven in this world of social media, the line between PR and marketing is blurry.
So make sure that your communication strategy for both marketing and PR synced as well as your social media strategy. Really important. And the last thing I'd like to leave you with Among other things is that again, it's all about promotion, right? You could have a great product but if you've got bad promotion, you're not going to sell your product could be a great you know, company it could be a great movement could be a great division, you do need to promote I know it can sometimes be scary and sometimes a beast kind of a little slimy but promotion is what makes good products. So if you have a good product, you need to have good promotion. So just remember that and again, be unique like nobody else in the world.
I think that's the big takeaway as well. uniqueness sells, you need to be more unique, especially with the huge amount of noise out there this you know, the new cycles are so short and there's lots of stuff going on. So go out there be unique, unique excuse me, like nobody else. And the last PR experiment number four.
