All right, here is our last secret secret number seven, are you excited? Great job so far getting all the way to secret number seven. And that is the line between PR and marketing is blurry, and it actually is really blurry. A lot of times, you will get PR opportunities through social media as an example, where you never got that before, typically marketing and public relations were separate. But now it's getting so blurry and so calm combined, that people have to do both. And the thing to remember because a lot of times people don't understand it, what's the difference between marketing?
What's difference between PR? Well, marketing is saying you're good. Pr is getting someone else to say you're good. And as we all know on social media with the likes and the shares and the influencers and everything, a lot of people have that strategy. So this little You will be constantly going back and forth on it will constantly be blurred. The thing to remember is that your social media strategy and your PR strategy do have to be tied at the hip, as well as your marketing and your messaging strategy.
And that's the reason why we go through and we're doing this PR narrative so that the PR narrative that you're going to develop will be the tip of the spear for your, all of your communications including your marketing, including your sales including your PR. So one of the things that's a great about PR is that this is one of my favorite cartoons about it and we get asked this all the time and so when you are in a situation where you are saying something like this, you've already lost because if you have to play catch up if you have to play damage control You've already dug yourself into a deep hole that you may or may not be able to get out of. So what I always tell people is never be in this meeting with this conversation. Always be as ethical as you can and have a really solid message.
And then that starts with a really solid narrative that everyone can talk about, and everyone can repeat. And so, like I said, we're going to do the last exercise soon and then we will develop our narratives.
