So growth mindset versus fixed mindset is where we're going to begin with mindset. So basically, the growth mindset is when you want to focus on effort, you believe that you can better at something with more practice repetition. The growth mindset aligns more with brain malleability, and brain plasticity. It means that when you practice something repeated, you can build new neural pathways in your brain, and they will strengthen over time as you practice and repeat. a fixed mindset, however, is more focused around talent being the trump card when it comes to learning. There's a fixation around you either have a language gene or you don't have a language gene, you either have a flair for it or not.
People who tend to have a fixed mindset for language learning will troll around these things. The focus is a lot on being right and wrong, which means that you're not going to put in as much practice repetition for fear of being right or wrong all the time. It puts a lot of unnecessary stress in my experience on your body. In your mind and your emotions. The growth mindset is the place you want to be to become an accelerated language learner. So when you got this belief that you would practice and repetition, you can get smarter, then you're going to repeat and practice something more, which leads to the words being Top of Mind more, because you're practicing them.
When you learn a new language, you'll tend to notice that you can understand quicker than you could speak. That's because it's easier to just listen and be passive. Rather than being proactive and speaking, what you want to do from day one is to be proactive in your learning, you don't want to be too passive because you're not going to be able to speak properly, and you're not getting in that repetition that you need with native speakers. So with this growth, mindset belief, this will help you to know why it's important to start speaking quickly to start making some mistakes, but learn from those mistakes, to become a more proactive learner. And this will help you in other aspects of your life as well. So if you're wondering right now, whether you fall into a growth mindset or a fixed mindset, I created some questions.
