Self honesty and experimentation. So how will this make me a better language learner? So with self honesty, I found that whenever you are honest with where you at your level, what you need to learn, you make better progress. I found when I was learning French Originally there was a tendency to either overestimate or underestimate my level and neither of these two extremes serve me. What I found when I started learning Spanish and Italian was that I was more honest with where I was at. I was more honest with what I needed to learn to start speaking.
So my goal was very clear. When I was honest, where I was at, I was very clear on I want to just speak, I wanted to find the words that would get me to a practical level where I could just speak and engage in conversations get into practice and repetition and improve my level that way. So the difference then was that I learned Spanish and Italian a lot quicker than I learn French French helped me to an extent the because they're both they're all within the same language learning family. But my strategy was completely different when I learned Spanish and Italian And that's what helped me to accelerate my learning. It was more honest, it was more directed around one single goal, which is to speak. And I just made progress a lot quicker that way.
Experimentation also tied into how I learned Spanish and Italian as well. So I just experimented with stuff. I had less on it than I did when I was learning French. When I was learning French was very rigid about things I was very, I had to get every single word understood for me to understand the conversation with Spanish and Italian that wasn't realistic for me because I was looking at the frequently used words I wasn't looking at learning every word. So when I learned Spanish and Italian I was more focused on the meaning. So I noticed that within median, it was more of an experimentation and I felt a bit more loose.
And when my body felt loose, the conversation seemed to flow a bit better. When I was in French for a few years, I was looking at specific words. And when I look back at my body was always quite tense because I was afraid I'd miss a word and lose my train of thought and, and the conversation become awkward. So that's basically self honesty and experimentation. When you combine both of these together, you just get a better idea. Spirits language learning, you'll learn the language quicker and you'll know where you're at at each stage along the way.
So that's, that's it. So I'll see you on the next module where we're going to talk about the strategy element of things. We're going to use the French language as the specific language. We're gonna look at
