Focusing on the meaning versus focusing on the specific words. So when you think about your own native language, you don't tend to focus on every single specific word, you tend to more look for a sense of what the other person is saying. So you can communicate back to them. There's more of a flow to the conversation that way, and it generally feels more natural. I only started realizing the same thing in your foreign language. When I started getting more near the advanced level in French, I started to question what was fluency and when I started to see that, I wouldn't reach a day where I would understand every single word in French I started to relax more, I started to just kind of engage in conversations where I wasn't over focused on every word and measuring it as my level in the language.
It was more about how do I communicate how to communicate more effectively? How do we have a conversation that's enjoyable? How do I connect with people through French so became more about connection, communication and that type of thing. So learning Spanish and Italian. I found when I was more focused on practice practicing, and learning practical words that would get me speaking. Again, I was more engaged in this line of thought of looking for the meaning because I was looking at hacking the language accelerate my learning.
So therefore, I knew I wouldn't understand every single word when I was in conversation. So my focus shifted more towards meaning. And so when it was with meaning, I started to see that you don't need to understand every single word to understand the conversation. And that you actually flows better and you're less tense and as uptight, I started realizing that when I was engaging in Spanish and Italian at quite an early stage compared to which French I was less uptight about it, which meant that my body was more relaxed, which meant that it was the conversations were more in flow there was less honest. So that's basically it. So if you're a beginner starting off now, I would, my recommendation would be to focus on the meaning rather than the specific words.
A great way to do this is to just Be more in touch with your body. As I've mentioned, when you're when you're relaxing your body, you're generally more relaxed in your mind and vice versa. So my recommendation would be to start using some meditation apps. So I put a few recommendations in a document you can download, try them out, have no expectation, I just get into the habit of meditating each day. Even if it's only for three minutes, it just gets you more aware of your thoughts, getting more in touch with your breathing and your body. So this will help you to focus more on the meaning rather than the specific words.
And that's the level you're going to get to Anyway, when you want to get to an advanced in your native or near native level, you're going to have to get to a stage where you're comfortable with the language. You're not focusing every single word where you're more comfortable with not knowing everything but still communicating really effectively. So that's that I hope this has been something new for you hope it's opened up doors in your mind to something new, something some new possibilities, and in the next module, we're going to look more at hacks and principles for hacking. language. So see you in the next video.
