About 12 years ago, to be exact, it was in March 2006. I was staying in a youth hostel for about a week in Belgrade, Serbia, I was there for a week and it was still winter at the time, it was still really, really cold, especially for a tropical boy like me, because the temperature was below minus 10 Celsius. So it was really pleasing. And then one morning I woke up, I was about to take a shower, and the bathroom is outside is a shared bathroom. And as I was about to go to the bathroom, I saw that there's a line and there's about maybe seven or eight people on the line there. So I had to wait on the line to wait to go to the bathroom to use the bathroom.
And right in front of me is this young guy, maybe in his late 20s. He's a Croatian guy. He's also visiting Serbia at that time. I thought while waiting on that Line, if you start to have a conversation, I have no intention except just to have a conversation, waiting for the line to move forward. That's it. And while we got to talk, this guy's really, really friendly.
And he talks about the many kind of work that he's doing the main kind of jobs that he has been doing, and because he's also really friendly, so after like around three, four or five minutes talking with him, it seems like I kind of know him pretty well. At least that's what I thought and with no intention, except just to chit chat with him just to wait for the line to move forward. I asked him the question. So what do you want to do later in your life? And that question, really, really surprised me really seen his body language like it's like saying that man, how come I don't know what I want to do? And I had no intention.
I was just chit chatting and like, why because he was like, really shocked and then I got really stuck and I kind of feel uncomfortable, honestly. But at that moment, even though previously before that, I knew that Not everybody knows what he wants to do or she wants to do in this life in her in her life. But at that moment, it felt like I moved into another level from just knowing to really understanding and believing, like wholeheartedly that this is something super important that knowing your purpose in life is something that will direct the rest of your journey. So since that time, I've been dedicating my time my life to learn about the process of how people discover and live their life purpose. It has been an amazing journey, and I'm very looking forward for the rest of the journey. And I've learned from people from across sectors, across countries, across cultures, across generations, even because you can learn not just from interviews, but you can also learn from biographies as well.
And after learning from so many different people, it became very clear that there are very clear patterns basis that no matter what Your culture or your gender, or your sectors, your gender, which generation you're coming from, there's the same basis that a person is going through in their process of discovering and living their life purpose. And knowing that is very, very crucial. Why? Because by knowing the phases, you can first become aware of where you are right now, within that process within that phases. Am I here right now? Or am I here?
And by first knowing where you are you become aware of where you are, then you know, if we keep moving forward, if we keep pursuing this, which phase you're going to go next. And what do you need to do to prepare yourself to move from one place to the next. And that's what we're going to learn here as well. Because knowing that can make your process of discovering and living your purpose become more efficient, more fulfilling, and meaningful as well, of course. So that's why and I'm on my way in this program. Your journey your learning is not just about knowing what to do.
It's not just about knowing what is life purpose and what to do to discover them. But the most crucial part is to actually do what you know. Because there are so many people who learn great things, but it's based just as a knowledge in this program, not only will you learn what to do, but this program will make sure that you are doing what you need to do. That's what I'm always about. It's the process that's what we call time on my biggest it's a process, life purpose is journey, which we will I will explain as well later on then in the next videos because my friends, whatever you want to achieve in your life, you need to make it a study, you want to become a chemist, the need to study chemistry, you want to become a biologist, then you study biology. You want to become a great leader, then you study leadership, you want to be happy, then you learn happiness.
You want to discover your purpose, you want to live your purpose, then you study purpose, whatever you want to achieve in your life. make you a study and I guess that's why you're here as well. And I'm going to guarantee you, when you learn, reflect and apply, this is going to be a life changing program. And it's not just about discovering. Remember I keep saying discovering and living your life purpose, which we will go through in the next video. See you in the next video.
