To use the template, I just take my template and I put it on a light source. Here I'm using a light pad but you could also use the light from a window. So what you do is you have your light source, so either your window or your light pad, you put your template down on top of it, and then you put your paper on top of your template. And when the light shines through, you'll see just the outline of your image and then you can trace it as you want to use it. So I just take my permanent marker, select where I want to put it on my paper, and then I'll just trace my image just like this. The images fit nicely on a five by seven and if you want to combine them just use a larger piece of paper and combine them accordingly.
You can also change or add to your template as well. So if you wanted to add dangly things are you wanting to change the lines here on this one for example, we have the outline of the hat. And on the template, we have stripes. If I didn't want to do those stripes, here's the template. And here's my hat. If I wanted to just leave it plain, and then come in and add something different when I'm painting, that's the way to do that.
If not, you can just add your stripes accordingly. And then you'll just go around finishing them, drawing your image. Do this with each of the Valentine gnomes that you'd like to paint. And then in the next chapter, we'll start painting
