Let's look now at some amazing projects I've, I've researched thousands I've looked into details of thousands of projects. One thing that is very special in my approach, or what I want to do and is part of my next book is I wanted to look at good projects or projects from a positive side that have contributed and have really impact on society, on regions or cities or companies, which projects were DOS and what can we learn from the usually when you hear a project are always about failure. One very famous in the US is the homecare.org in 2013, where the whole website collapse really when it was about to be launched or in Berlin, you have the airport, which is completely mess is more than five years late and out of budget. So we don't want to know about that. Yeah, we want to know, but not focus.
Let's focus on some amazing projects. And I have here, just two, I selected two to share with you, and just the highlights the first one, I think probably you heard about that, but this happened in Chile in 2010. So the mining the big mind collapse, and there were 33 individuals, miners at the bottom of the mind, and nobody knew if they were alive. So the President of Chile said, we're going to save them, we're going to try to find them and save them. It was a big bet. It was really what are the chances one in a million to find them first and then hopefully, they're alive, but he decided to put the effort in and go for it and because they were human beings, so they really define it the clear project, they make everything right, they got the right resources, the most advanced technology to try to find them before we took them 17 days to find them before nobody knew if they were alive or not.
Not so once they found that they had to find the technology to, to drill down and to get them there were 600 meters below the ground. So it takes usually that would take a couple of years to make a hole like that. So they brought different technology to go faster. And once they found in in took them out 69 days after they were prepared to receive them, they had sunglasses so that they will not be affected. So a perfect project, a very successful project that we have finalized in detail and got some of their best practice amazing when you want to do things, and you're fully dedicated. This second project I wanted to share with you also amazing is in a country in the middle of Africa called Rwanda.
Rwanda had one of the worst genocides in the past decades and and what is amazing about this project is that the precedent of Rwanda decided, after all this massacre to say, No, we need to change this cannot happen anymore. Let's set up a program to reconcile because called the reconciliation program and, and they create a special structure training. A lot of psychologists have been people to go through, they had lost people of their family. It was very, very painful, dramatic, but with the support and with the goodwill, they managed to integrate the country today, latest boards about 95% of integration. Enemies are living together, they have built families and in a world where everything is falling apart, and you see these cases in the middle of Africa and these kind of projects. You see that there's still hope that they're still good projects and that we can turn around the situation.
