All right, lesson number 15 become a pattern interruption monster. Wow, we have spent a lot of time understanding how we've been programmed, it is now time to deprogram and reinstall the coding which will help us eliminate not only anxiety, but also any aspect of your life, which you believe is holding you back. And it begins with pattern interruption. Now, do you remember the story that I told you about the book that I found when I was a little kid, but this was the first introduction that I learned about transformation and I'm talking real transformation here. And it's when I became obsessed with human behavior and human potential. You see, I grew up in a small town in rural central Utah.
And it was My dream to see the world. It was my dream to live a life well beyond the farmlands and the paved roads where I came from. And I learned a lot of simple tricks along the way. And one of them is pattern interrupting. Now I have to admit, I haven't always followed my own counsel. And every time in my life where I've kind of fallen into a slump, or I knew that I wasn't progressing.
I always had the ability to go back to this simple process. And the introduction or reintroduction of pattern interruption in my life, I found it was a huge key. And it was so critical because for the because right now is the very first technique that I'm going to show you. And it's something that has radically changed not only my life, but the lives of thousands of people that I've tied to. And in many cases, people define their limitations live by the words that they choose. Now they also define their limitations by their patterns.
You see, every moment of every day you've been programming your pattern. in your life, which are your behaviors and your belief systems and your habits, and they run you and they control you, and they run unconsciously. Now, you don't even know how powerful they are until you have something like, maybe life slapped me in the face. And you realize that there's an entirely new way to live your life. But normally, individuals live unconsciously. And right now, you're taking a conscious step on how to change your life on how to change anxiety and how to get rid of that.
Now, people who live unconsciously they just kind of run on autopilot. And they run the same loops over and over and over and over and over. And if they're lucky, they have a major joke in their lives or worse. You know, sometimes people just run out of life and they say the dreaded phase, the phrase like, gosh, upon that what happened? Well, you're not gonna do that because you're learning about pattern interruption. So let me give you a very common example.
Have you ever had trouble finding your keys? Yeah, something simple like that simple question that causes so much headache. Especially when you're in a hurry, and people who are anxious are always in a hurry. And have you ever been in such a hurry, you're kind of panic and then all of a sudden you're you need your keys and all of a sudden you spend the next 10 to 15 minutes wondering where the hell you put your keys? Well, the reason that you can't find them is that you have created a pattern, or you have installed a program called disorganization program called I don't know where my keys are. Now, when you come home, you don't think about a location or a specific spot to put your keys because the program that you're running deserve, require that but when you try to find your keys, and you do that patent dance for a little while, you go through this process and you're trying to figure out where are my keys?
So you're wondering, did you leave them in your car Yeah, you know, where are they in your teens have a digit set up on the counter? Gosh, did you put them in the refrigerator? I mean, I've done that before. But regardless, if you don't have a pattern or a program installed, which is set up to constantly remind you on an unconscious level, where your keys right, you're always going to be looking for your keys because that's the default program. And that program is called. I'm running around, I don't know where my keys are on.
And it's a program of confusion. And it's a program that you pattern yourself to do. So in order to break this, you now have to be consciously aware that you have to break this and you have to change the GPS which is instilled in your unconscious mind with a program that is counter to I don't know where my keys are. So in order to change this pattern, you have to develop a system or install a new program of change. Now even if you develop a new system, you have to follow the system. But just by making the decision that you're going to change something is a major leap forward.
But you still have to follow like it just said. So for example, my room, my bedroom I have a nail on the wall was more more of a little task, if you will. And it's a program where I've programmed my unconscious mind and I labeled it this is where I think my keys when I first get home. Now I wear my keys around my neck when I'm out and about and I put it on a lanyard. Why because I hate things my pocket and I don't like to carry things I know girls that don't have a purse, but I always want to know what my keys right now if I put it on lanyard, it's slipping over my head. Now I hate getting locked out of my car and I've done that way too many times.
So I created this program. So when I installed that program, I call it Jamie when you're out and about Were your keys around your neck and is completely eliminated that worry of Where are my keys, I can't find out now I'm locked out of my car. But at the same time, when I get home, the first thing that I'm going to do is carry my car keys into the bedroom and hang them on the wall. And that's a program that I've stalled called, where I hang my keys. Why first get home. Now this sounds kind of funny and silly and childish, but you know what it works.
And this way, I always know where my keys are. And you can do this with anything in your life. And guess what, at least I never experienced anxiety about my keys. And without fail if I'm busy, or if I don't think about it, or somebody engages me and interrupts my normal pattern of hanging my pieces. I won't put them where they're supposed to go and I'll I'll be like everybody else. I'll spend the next five to 10 minutes going through the pattern of where my keys Alright, so when you experience anxiety, your GPS has been trained to focus on anxiety, remember, what's the purpose of a GPS is to take you to a destination that you've programmed.
Alright? And it does a very good job by bringing you more anxiety. And in fact, sometimes your anxiety gets worse and worse and worse. And that is because of the law of attraction. We attract what a programming is programmed to do. So one kick one quick programming technique that I teach in my Neuro Linguistic courses, is that you must develop a pattern interruption that causes a little bit of what we shall say, discomfort.
Okay, so here's the most common pattern interruption that I normally recommend. Have you ever had a rock or something in your shoe? It's more annoying, right? I mean, it's not so painful that it hurts you but it is annoying, and what do you do yet to stop and you have to take it out to shoot. So what I would like to Key to do is to put a quarter in your shoe. Now when you're standing still, you're not going to notice the quarter.
But when you start walking around, it's small enough, that is going to be just a little annoying. But you're going to do this with intent. And you're going to have a purpose. If you choose the quarter method make it known to your unconscious mind. Remember, your unconscious mind is where the seat of your GPS is. And you make it known by speaking to your unconscious mind, say to your unconscious mind, unconscious mind, I'm putting this quarter in my shoe because it's going to remind me that I am in control of anxiety and anxiety does not control me or something to that effect.
Now, when you're walking about your day, you're going to remember the quarter because it's always going to be there and it's going to be a little annoying. And you have tied this quarter by repeating to yourself or making a statement to your unconscious mind that xiety is no longer welcome. Now this process is not going to completely eliminate anxiety. But what it is going to do is it's going to create a pattern interruption in the starting that process is going to start to jar the coding, if you will, is going to jar that anxiety coating has been building up with you from the time of your birth when you started to experience separation and rejection. Okay? Now, I want you to think of this as like an old style record or a DVD or a CD.
And if you got a knife and you just spread some big old scratch on that CD or DVD, and you put it in your player, still may work but you're going to constantly hear that skipping or that annoyance of the DVD and even if it's your favorite one, you're still going to get sick of it. Now, if you are constantly hearing that even if it's your favorite record or A DVD or a CD after a while, you just want to turn it off. And that's the image that we're looking for. Now, of course, anxiety is not one of your favorite songs or programs. But it is something that has been playing around in you and a vibration that's very familiar to you almost your entire life. So it's going to start to reprogram you by the desire to uninstalled the program of anxiety.
And it's important that you know that you're not defined by any programming, you're definitely not defined by anxiety. You're not defined by the distortion of anxiety. Now, think of your world as a map. You live on your map, but your map is not your territory. It's not all your possibilities. Your map is just a section of the whole territory.
Your map is what you live in. It's your box, if you will, and the box that you live in has all these generalizations and limitations. You've been programmed with your entire life. So the purpose of a pattern interruption is to begin to change that. And we want transformation. And I want you to change, I want you to take control of anxiety and eventually eliminate it.
And I really want you to become a pattern interruption creation monster. And I have recommended to people that, you know, they even take their watch, if you wear a watch or jewelry on one wrist, put it on the other wrist, because every decision that you make is, is based upon your past coding. So why do you wear jewelry around one particular recipe and the other one that's pattern, you don't even think about it when you put it on. But if you make the conscious decision that I'm going to wear this on here, for the purpose of you give that purpose like eliminating xiety. Now all of a sudden, you're starting to play that, that record that that scratch record over and over and over. Now currently, right now Your life is running based upon the programs and paths which are currently running your operating system.
If you don't like that, change it so you go through life. On a daily basis without thinking about all these things that you do, and you do them automatically, I mean, the way that you roll out of bed, the way that you sit on the edge of the bed, how you set the alarm at night, and you know what to eat for breakfast, how much butter you put on your toast, the style of clothing that you shop for how you put it on the way that you brushed your teeth with it, brush your hair. So let's face it, what you've been doing so far to address anxiety hasn't been working for you. If it had, you wouldn't be taking this course at all. So your patterns have created a lifestyle which is determined by your programming, your habits, your beliefs, etc. So what we have to do is, stop allowing your life to be run autonomously without your conscious mind, getting in there and changing it.
So now what I'm saying is, not all patterns are bad. I mean, some patterns in your life are very beneficial because they're giving what you do want If you get what you do want great keep doing those things. But if there's something that you want to change, you have to develop a pattern interrupt. And so the key is to know what do you want and what do you not want. So become aware of some of the patterns that are positive some of the patterns that are negative, keep the deposit patterns and let, lets reprogram the negative patterns. Just like you've been experiencing every moment of your life since the day you were born.
So remember that our patterns or our coding is what drives us is what controls is it's especially when it becomes unconscious. Just it just happens. So our coatings, either our best friend or worst enemy. Now I'm gonna remind you that you made a commitment that when you started this course, in order to change your coding, you must be active in order to make a change simply stating out loud or even in your mind. I want change Or I want to have the desire to change or saying I want to want change is more than enough to make the change. So, change creates change.
And when you interrupt the pattern with intent and your intention is to make that change for the betterment of your life, you've already begun the process of making the change. your unconscious mind always tries to suck you back and take you back into what I call homeostasis into what you've previously been programmed to do, or to think or to be. So we have to take action and give our GPS a new program. So pattern interrupting starts that so again, give your unconscious mind that command, given orders. That's what it's supposed to do. take orders from whatever's been programmed to do, it doesn't care if it's real or fake, doesn't care what it does.
Your unconscious mind is who you are. So consciously if you want to make the change, and then get Dutchmen now that you have developed conscious mind, and you are no longer at 10 years old or younger, take control of your unconscious mind, but commanded it to, like manage, so be in charge. Now the biggest key in pattern interruption is to use your imagination. You're a master imagination is the greatest single key, the greatest single tool. Any choice that you have right now, as far as change goes, use your imagination and when I work with clients developing business plans, or if it's athletes who want to improve their skills, or if it's individuals trying to lose weight, or us who are trying to get rid of anxiety, no matter what I'm hired as a coach to do, you always have to have imagination that goes beyond the edge of the map that you live in.
All right. So I so right now, I want you to imagine what your life is going to be like without anxiety. I mean, what are you going to be able to do? What kind of relationships would you have with anxiety? How much more fun do you have? Can you get that promotion?
Will you have better sex? Will you get better grades? Will you make more money? Will you develop different habit habits? I mean, a life without anxiety is pretty dang powerful. And what if you can perform all those things that you want to perform each and every day?
That normally brings anxiety without anxiety? Hmm. All right.
