Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is one of the modalities of many psychotherapy is available out there. In my personal experience, I have come to a realization that act therapy is a very feminine and very spiritual perspective, a very feminine and very spiritual approach towards solving your problems. Whereas if you consider NLP or IBT, you will find that it is much more masculine that means that in our abt if you have any kind of problem, you have to check on your beliefs. You have to dispute your beliefs you have to do analyzes and lots of contemplation, and it's a lot of mental activity. But when it comes to AD, actors are much more receptive. It's about not changing anything.
It's about not doing any kind of analyzes and stuff. about being in the present moment accepting the life the way it is, the thoughts the way they are the feelings the way they are, the situation the way they are, and just being okay. Okay, it's, it's okay just being okay with the things that are happening in your life. And this what it does is actually gives you a lot of relief, it actually gives you a lot of strength. So, acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a very good alternative. If you are really fed up with any kind of problem and you do not want to do anything about it.
Okay, if you don't want to do anything about it, that means if you don't want to invest more of your cognitive bandwidth and solving and contemplation of the problems, doing analyzes and stuff, then acceptance and Commitment Therapy will do wonders for you know, before I actually learned about acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I had an idea of what act was, but I was not in depth in this field. I took up the past knockos, which is a meditation technique, which was taught by the Buddha to end the suffering and state and achieve the state of Nirvana. I found that this will partner is very, very similar to acceptance and Commitment Therapy. So, in this course, I have actually clubbed together acceptance and Commitment Therapy and we're passionate and meditation and all that things. So, I would just like to give you an example of how act really works.
So after my Vipassana meditation retreat, When I came back home, I wanted to deal with a problem I had. I was I was in love with someone and it was really hard for me to move on. And while I was taking shower, I just thought of why not I apply total acceptance of the situation to this particular problem that I'm facing. So I just took a deep breath and I accepted the way the things were. I totally accepted it. Then I realized that I was too much attached to a perception about that person.
That I was in love with my perception of that person. Because that person doesn't meet my perception of that person. I was facing so much trouble I was in suffering. And at that moment I accepted that it's okay that this person isn't fitting my frame of how that person should be. And I want to make peace with it. I do not want to change anything about that person, or the situation.
If this is how things are. This is how things are. So I just bought myself in the present moment. I've made peace with myself. I made peace with the things I did, nor Anything about it, I did not have any expectations about it. And once I really accepted it, I felt really good I felt lighter, I felt happier I felt relieved.
And after that I simply made a decision or commitment that I will be much more focused on my work and I will find a new life for myself. So, this is how act actually looks like in my personal experience, it is about accepting the things and making a commitment to just improve the quality of your life focusing on things that really matter to you that will enhance your personality. So, act and commitment acceptance and Commitment Therapy are very, very feminine approach or very rejuvenating approach to cure any kind of problem but in this course we will be focusing on social anxiety.
