All right, welcome everyone. This is the syslog lab or the logging lab, right, where we actually use the server. To capture Bobo switch itself, we have to enable logging, okay with a trap. So we know what to actually capture in a Syslog Server. If you go to your server, and you go to the service says, you see that there's a syslog checkbox there or check button. And then you see that's already on by default.
So all we really need to do is go into this switch. Alright, and by default, logging is already on if you were to do whoops, if you were to do logging, all right, you can see all there you can do everything console, or whatever you want to So we're going to log in console. Alright, that's gonna be on it's on by default. It's not a big deal, you can do it again, remember what we talked about logging buffered, you can actually give it a size. If you want it to have the buffer size and keep the default. We just leave the default.
But we want to put it in a trap logging trap. Now we'll try Well, we can only do debugging here. All right. Now, what do we want to debug though? What do we want to do? But one of the things that you need to do in the packet tracer, you actually have to specify debug.
Right? What is that we're trying to debug? Let's debug something simple IP. And then we'll just do ICMP, ICMP. And then just hit that you see that ICMP packet debugging is on. But let me show you something.
So those of you that are working on the packet tracer, a mine is not working. All right. If I were to go to the server, well, you can see there's something going on right there. Let's see. Let's go ahead and let's do that. Okay, let's do a ping minus T, one into the 168 dot one dot two.
And let's take a look to see if the server and you can see that the server's already picking up. Because we're debugging, we had to actually do the debugging ICMP. I even though debugging is on in the truck, we actually had to specify to debug ICMP packets, IP ICMP packets, and you see that now you're getting information in your Syslog Server. This is what logging is, it captures everything that you want to capture. Just be specific in a trap messages. That's that table that you need to memorize for the test.
Okay, the trap messages, all right, and how to turn it on the syntax is pretty simple. Okay, you'll have the resources available to you. I'll see you next
