In this lesson, you're going to be moving down the slope and Associates that with two feet strapped into the snowboard. So this is an essential maneuver to grasp Is this how you control speed, and you'll learn how to use your lower body to bring that edge on and get that speed control. So how are we going to do this, we're going to start off standing with equal weight on both feet, shoulders and lane with the board. And we want nice good posture and the upper body. So think about just squeezing your shoulder blades together and down your back and you want to make sure your eyes are looking down in the slope. So to be able to glide I just want to be nice and relaxed here with no age in the snow so that boards almost just in a flat base.
And then to stop and slow down. What I'm going to do is slowly bend through my knees and ankles, pooling my tools up into the roof of the boot and get that nice edge grip in the snow is just like the step before gripping Glade using that gas pedal instead. This time we've got the two feet strapped in On your snowboard, you have two ages. So we need to learn how to control that speed on the heel edge and the toys. So even though we've got those two ages, the same fundamental movements apply to control that speed set, there's two kind of big differences when we move on to the two edge compared to the heel edge. The big one is where we put our hips and also the way which our back faces down the slope.
So on heel edge, you can see here, if I bend down, I'm bringing that edge on to control speed and my hips are over the heel edge. So the toe edge is just a little different. Now you can see here, the big difference is where I have my hips, so my hips near where my center of mass is Hill is over the edge and my back this time face is down the floor. So the same thing applies to control that speed if I want to bring the age on and slow down Just bend through my knee and my ankle and feel my shin and the tongue of the boot. And you can see that brings the edge on and then to blade. I'm just going to slowly stand up, relax, and let that heel lowered a little to let the board slate.
They can see it's super important to keep our hips over this edge. So they start to slide back and I breached the waist. I'm basically going to catch that and noisy lead catches. So we want to try to avoid those as much as possible. So just think about keeping these hips nice and balanced over that top edge.
