It's time to learn how to set an edge in the snow. So you can move up the slope with one foot attached. Now this is really good to learn because it teaches you how to use your Lord joints to get h grip in the snow. And it's helpful especially if you've dropped something or you need to climb back up the slope to help a buddy out. Or maybe you've missed a turn off for a cat track. To move up the slope, we need to sit that edge in the snow.
So really crucial to use these lower joints, the knee and the ankle. So you can see here if I'm trying to move up the slope, and I don't have an edge, that board is going to be slaving away from me so really difficult to move up the slope there. So what I want to try and do is bend this hip, knee and ankle. And you can see there that creates that edge platform in the snow. And I can easily move up the slope without that board slaving away on me. Now that you've learned how to move up the slope with one foot strapped in creating that nice Solid Edge platform, it's time to learn how to move down in the slope with one foot strapped in creating that same Solid Edge platform.
So really useful. If you're ever scared or stuck somewhere. It's just a nice safe way that you can make your way down the section of slope. So similar idea. What we want to do here is pool the toes into the roof of the booth. So you feel that pressure in your toenails, and a little bend in the knee.
And you can see here again, I've got that nice Solid Edge platform so that ball is not going to slide out from under me. I'm just going to take a big step and then a little stepping behind.
