Hello, it's Rob coven here. When you are publishing a Kindle ebook, you have to get the categories correct in order to make sure you have a best seller. I'm also going to show you in this video, how to choose your back end keywords. They are seven different keywords that you can put in when you are uploading your books files at KDP amazon.com. So let's get going. First of all, in order to research on the book that you're creating, you need to head over to Amazon and search for the most relevant keywords that you think describes your book.

You could go into books or go into further down Kindle store here, either all will do, and my book is going to be about location independence. So I'm going to start typing that and you can see that instead of location independence. It's much better to use the word location independent. So already I've got a keyword there for me. So I'll put that in. So there are see obviously, books that are kind of competitors to the book I'm going to write, but they'll also give me some good ideas for keywords and category titles.

So let's have a look at the keywords we got travel the world there, there's probably not much else Of course, Nomad is a word that I've already thought of. digital nomad is another sort of key word for my book. I bet it's going to the first one that comes up there. And this is an example of a book that's similar to mine. So we're going to scroll down and this is the all important bit of information. what you've got here is a rank in The Kindle store, you see that this book is the 480,000 odd, best selling book.

So there are nearly half a million books that are selling better than this book in the Kindle Store. So it's not very good, well, ranking book. And beneath the bestseller rank, you have the rank of the book within certain categories within the Kindle Store. So you've got a category here, which is budget travel, the book is doing best in that one. There's also another budget travel category that has a different category tree. And also in entrepreneurship.

It's 2010 that not only can we get categories here, we can also get some amazing information from this number. From this number, we can determine how well that book is selling. So 488,000 or I won't remember the whole number but What you want to do is go to kindle printer.com slash Amazon KDP sales rank calculator, and I'll share that link with you put in, in Kindle books because this was the Kindle books bestseller rank 488,000 and click there. And that doesn't even sell a book every day. Why do we need to know this? Why is this important?

Because this tells us the information we want to know in order to become a best seller. So if you click on one of these categories, the category it's doing best IT budget travel, and of course that book is nowhere to be seen, because it's not doing particularly well. But let's go to number one in this category of budget travel is Kindle ebook category. and have a look at this book. It's got a lot of reviews 300 over 300 nearly 400 reviews and data Here Here is the best seller rank a lot higher up 21,600 odd, bestselling book in the Kindle Store. And that's what it took to get to the top of this category.

So let's put that in in our calculator 21,697 try again 21,697 it's selling 12 books a day. 12 books a day that isn't a lot. Because I know when I launch a new book, I can get at least 50 or maybe 100 purchases. If you just asked all your friends to buy it, you can get 12 books sold a day. So this is a category that you can get bestseller rank on easily. And remember, if you if you get a best seller rank, it means you'll get more sales because people will see it.

Ranking well if they are browsing that category on the Amazon website so what I do now is just select that and copy. And now I've gone into a document where I'm keeping all my ideas for categories. Here's I've already got three, six ideas for categories I'll show you them on the website. So here's one is quite a difficult one I think it's Kindle ebooks business and money small business. I would love to get to the number one on this let's have a look how well that books doing. Free scroll down it's 748 bestseller in the Kindle store that's doing very well let's see how much that's selling every day.

748 Okay, 120 120 can I get to that? I would love to be able to get to the top of this category. I will also get into this hot new releases. So will if People are interested in entrepreneurship and small business, then they will see my book. So I may be add this category. So remember, I'll add a easy category and a difficult category.

Let's have a look at some of the other ones. This is a bit easier. So this is business and money, entrepreneurship and small business home based. So if we look at the number one book there, and scroll down and see the bestseller rank, it's 1346 how many books does that sell a day? 1346. Okay, more like 100 The other one was more like 120 still still quite difficult actually, to rank in this category, home based small business.

I could do it. If I arranged a buck book promotion at the same time as I emailed my list, I could maybe get 100 Sales a day, if I organize this to happen around the same time, I could well get to be the best seller in that category. That's one to think about. That's the categories. Very important. Choosing the categories.

Remember, when you go into the backend, and you're uploading your Kindle, you might not find these categories, even though they're on the Amazon store, you might not find them. When you are creating your listing, don't worry, you can write to KDP, right to Amazon, and ask them to change your category into the one one of the ones that's not mentioned. That is very easy to do. And they will do that within a few hours. You can also move around categories while the book is live and published. And those changes will take only a few hours as well.

So if you find your selling really well, you can move into a more difficult category and get more sales because more people will be looking at those popular categories. So it's all about getting to the top of the good categories and getting organic sales getting sales from people who are unaware of your brand as yet, but will become aware by reading your new book on your chosen subject.
