Now we all know the importance of getting people feeling engaged in your project in your new book. So they will evangelize and write reviews on the Amazon platform. Hopefully, it's a good idea to get people interested in your product anyway. But the street team takes it a step further. Now, let me show you what I mean. First of all, here, I have 36 drafts of the same email sent to the street team with an early pre release a free copy of my new book.
How did I get these email addresses? So this is the best example I created a video where I talked about the new book and asked people if they wanted a free copy. And I put that on my Facebook and asked people to give me their email addresses or to pm me or to get in touch with me through my website and ask for a copy of the book. I did this about a week or two before I was finished with the first draft. And this was successful. I got 40 likes on that post.
And a lot of people got in touch with me saying, This is my email address. I tried other things like there's a blog post here, where I said, you know, same thing, if you're interested in getting a copy, please leave me a message. I only had 10 likes and nobody left a message. So you've got to keep trying with Facebook. I put the same thing in my facebook group. I also tried in my Facebook page, but only one of these things works.
Here. I put the same video on YouTube to give the same message and I shared that out on Google Plus. And here is the blog post, which is just about the book, really, it's just saying I'm writing this new book and this is all the stuff that's going to be in it or some of the things stuff that's going to be in it. And in the last paragraph, I say the same thing. please get in touch with me. If you're interested in contributing to the book, or you want to have access to a free copy of the book before it's official release.
And I didn't put that in the top of the article for a good reason. That's because I shared that article with my whole list. And I didn't want everyone replying. I didn't want a street team of just 200 300 400 people, I only wanted about 50 people. And the reason for that is because I want a lot of the people on my list to actually buy the book. Because if I get sales in the first few days, it's going to put me right up there in the rankings, and I'm going to sell more.
So basically, get people engaged by asking them about the cover, asking them about the title and asking them about the content of the new book that you are writing. That's obvious, and you do that by social media. But this is taking it a step further, this is creating a street team of email addresses. Now you can collect these email addresses through an email marketing platform such as AWeber, or MailChimp, but I just did it manually put their email addresses into a spreadsheet, as you can see, and then I got my PA, my VA, I should say, my virtual assistant to just repeat this same email to all of them, so I could make sure they've got it right. I might put a personal message in there if I know the person well, or I have something to say to that individual. But basically, it's an email that says thank you so much for your interest.
Here it is. Please give me some feedback immediately in the next few days. Don't say in the next week or so. Don't leave it open ended because then you'll never get any feedback at all, and instructions of how they can read the book. I've got supplied a mobi file, and a PDF file. So they can hopefully read it easily.
Best thing to do is use the free center Kindle app from Amazon to send the mobi to your Kindle. And then you could just read it like any other Kindle book. And I also say, Please don't share this with anyone. And then at the bottom, I say, don't worry about grammar, spelling, punctuation, and that sort of thing. It's going to be professionally edited. This is not what you want the street team for, you want their opinion, you want to know if you if they think you've left something out.
And that's much more important than spelling mistakes, which some of them might like to correct, but you're going to get your book professionally edited anyway. So that's not really what you want the street team to do. And then I send that to each of those 50 or 60 or so individuals for the street team and see if they read it. If they read And give me feedback. Great. I'll incorporate the feedback in the book, if I think it's a good idea usually is and then they feel engaged with the project.
They are so much more likely to evangelize about this and other products, and they are so much more likely to leave a review a five star review, of course. And that is all important, as you know on the Amazon platform. My name is Rob cabin. I'll see you in the next video.
