Did you know that 29 million Americans or approximately 10% of the population are currently living with diabetes? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, by the year 2050, as many as 1 in 3 adults will be living with diabetes. We need to wake up and realize that diabetes rates are steadily increasing and more people are having to face diabetes as a part of their daily lives. Diabetes is a disease that unfortunately has become a commonality in our communities - which means it has become part of our lives or the lives of our friends and family. Diabetes is a disease that can be well-managed, but we have to sort out untruths from truths to treat the underlying cause of the problem and live a healthy life. We will learn all of the normal processes of our bodies. We will also learn what causes our body to go out of the normal process and begin to create hyperglycemia or pre-diabetes or diabetes.
