Hello, and welcome back to my course. And in this section we're going to talk about allocating space. So what that means is how you decide how to design the space and what to put in it to make it aesthetically and economically correct and pleasing for the homeowners, and also their visitors. What are the criterias? And what are the most important factors? And how do you navigate people for the outdoor spaces.
So this is all what we're going to talk about regarding the front end the back garden. When you are designing a garden, it's very easy to break it into five different zones. First one would be the entry which is basically coming in from the public space, so a driveway or a public park. Zone two would be the entry walk, and that is how you get from the entry to the front porch or the flyer and what kind of ergonomics are Quiet. Zone three is the front porch, which is where actually people gather. So you want this area to be large enough to accommodate at least four to six people, maybe even more according to the client.
So four would be considered as the remaining area. So basically the space that you've been left over with after you allocated the spaces from the entry to the porch, this could be long patio, entertainment area and such. So this is a huge area that can be aesthetically pleasing as a garden, lawn, or maybe something usable, that would be important for the client. And finally, the driveway would be considered as zone five. Most of the times as designers we don't really have much to say about its placement, but we can recognize this as a separate zone and actually direct people visually and physically away from the driveway and get them to the front door. driveways are usually oversized, as they're there to accommodate cars and trucks.
But we don't want it to be the only way to get to the property. That's why we want to create private walkways, a beautiful space to enter the property as well. So we can use hedging material or something too soft in the transition between them and steer people away from the garage door. So these are the five songs that we're going to be talking about. I'm going to show you an example. It's a project that we did some time back.
I'll see you there.
