This lesson we're going to take a look at the intro for Chuck Berry song. Come on, it's in the key of G. And it goes something like this. Really neat, very simple. What makes it different is he's playing it high up on the neck he's playing in the first position. g blue Xbox. We talked about this earlier with some of the Phillips that Matt Murphy plays.
And I'm not sure whether Chuck was playing this lick here whether Matt Murphy was playing this. The tone of the guitar sounds a little bit like Matt Murphy. And what we're doing is we've got a G first position blues box between the 15th and the 17th frets. And we're sliding this double stop on the first and second strings using one finger going from the 13th to the 15th frets And then I'm gonna go and play this, what's a C double stop, my first finger is on the first fret of the 15, first string, 15th fret, my ring finger is on the 17th fret of the second string. And he just plays at one. So we've got this.
And then he's gonna do a band bending up the 17th fret three fingered band, 17th fret of the first string, letting it go 15th fret of the first string winding up on the 17th fret of the second string, so the whole thing he plays it twice. And that's what kicks off the song. Come on. Now, right at the start of the song. The piano I think hits a chord right before the guitar player, whether it's Chuck or Matt Murphy goes into that, but whoever playing it. That's what they're doing.
And that is one of my favorite Chuck Berry song introductions
