Next session is this and I've said it before probably the most important section. This is the section called employment summary or work experience or previous work experience, whatever you can call it. I like to call it employment summary section. It's not a big deal, what you call it, as long as it shows that you've got work experience and it represents your previous work experience. So like I said before, most sections like this require it to be in reverse chronological because you want to stay to your most recent employer to your latest employer. So this is important make sure it's in reverse chronological order.

So you want to give a few things you want to give the company name. You want to give the position and title that should help you know in turn, financial analyst, operations accountant, whatever it is that you did the retail assistant and date you worked there for how long you worked there for this is important. So you want to kind of list probably a little the jobs that you've held for last 10, maximum 15 years before after that or before that is pretty irrelevant. But if you're new, if you're just applying to become a financial analyst, these things Yeah, probably not not as important, but for those who have lots of experience, you probably want to limit to last 10 to 15 years max. Okay, Max, I probably prefer 10 years and list and bullet points what you did before that. So you want to in this particular section, you've got too many jobs, I say you've got 567 different jobs.

You know, you did a part time thing he internship there, worked, he worked there. So you kind of want to highlight the best parts of your work experience that that is one relevant to the job and two is working at bigger and bigger organizations like car bank, JP Morgan, or Deloitte Ernst and Young for instance, Kohl's will worse You know, Walmart, whatever it may be Carrefour in France. So wherever companies, the bigger the company, the bigger well known companies, the more you if you have the experience, put it in your resume above and beyond smaller companies. And so you want to have first and foremost the title of the company, your title within the company, the work, the work dates that you've worked at, as well as if it's, if it's a small company, then you need to outline what that company is a one sentence statement, for instance, what the company does, for instance, if you're working at a real estate agent, and as a small real estate agent, you would say, small to medium into real estate enterprise as a real estate, real estate agency selling you know, homes in Florida for instance, that's a that's an example of one of a small snapshot.

So, continuing on after that, you have to have a list of responsibilities. In three to four points, Max. Some people say five, I like to keep the three to four. Here's my rationale. most experienced managers and HR people would have seen a lot of roles and responsibilities for various jobs. For instance, if you were assistant accountant, or if you're a retail assistant, then you kind of know what you did.

You know, you did bookkeeping, you did entry level stuff. You did journal entry for accounting assistant, you know, double check the financial statements, you know, they're all very generic. So you want to keep it to three for maximum. And then, yeah, just outlined role responsibilities in your particular templates that I've given you, you'll see some of these things for the various jobs this particular person had. And so yeah, just keep a brief succinct and make sure you add keywords and verbs for instance, adjectives like managed initiative, coordinated In changed, responsible, all those kind of key action verbs that you could use that are also in the software byte filter, as well as just sound good as you're reading it, okay. And this is probably the most common mistake that I've seen in resumes.

And so I edit resumes on a weekly basis for a lot of my clients right now as a career coach. And this is the most common mistake. So don't miss out on this guy's don't this is so important. All right. So within your employment summary of a relevant job experience, you need to add your achievements. So I'd say 75% of the resumes I looked at, for a lot of students and a lot of young professionals that I've worked with, they missed this section all together.

And I think that's probably a large reason why they also not getting a job is because they don't paint themselves very well. In In the in the resume. So what is an achievement? So what it achievements I can show you. So you've got responsibilities under responsibilities you have the next point would be achievement. So in achievement sections, you kind of want to show off, what you've done, what you're good at all those types of things.

What you achieved during your time as a retail assistant, accounting assistant, intern at an accounting firm, wherever it may be, you want to show off what you did. So these would be the following. I'll just list them out for you. Did you save costs for the company? Did you save the business any money? Did you somehow have exceptional customer service that you want to award for instance, in a retail store, let it be on the phone, you know, whatever it may be.

I did you improve quality of the of the service or the product that you're selling or doing work with? That's an example for administration. Did you enhance the operational admin Did you improve the filing system? In all the online filing system, did you train anything? If you're in operations again, did you make anything more productive, more efficient? Did you make a process faster?

If you're in sales, did you improve profit? Did you become salesperson of the month for, you know, for your relative company that you're working for? What did you do to increase the bottom line? If it comes if you're in a sales role? And if you're let's just say in school environment, what did you achieve? Did you achieve high honors this you know, haich d average, you know, golden key membership, you know, those types of things show those are very important.

And so these things show that to employ that you have initiative, that you would bring the same mindset and time, same hunger, same ambition to do at their organization. All good managers want people hungry to learn, as well as to add value to their companies. This is super important. So cheap mints is something that's really lacking in a lot A lot of the resumes that are waiting so make sure you guys are putting the templates as well just examples. Yeah, so make sure you look at those details. If you haven't had a job before, let's just say you want to become a financial analyst or accountant and you've haven't had a job before.

You can put in work experience you've done through school, for instance, you might school required to have like a one month placement somewhere or something like that. Internships you've done for university or TAFE, or probably the most important one if you have actually work experience volunteer work. So you see in the resume that I provided, there's a lot of volunteer work, you can sign up at the local Salvation Army. You can do University clubs, you can do lots of stuff like 70 local church, serve the local soup kitchen, a charity work Geron charity, volunteer, you know, there's many things that you can volunteer. So what this shows in your resumes that you have some of experience you've worked with people importantly, and you can actually, you know, be in a work environment and succeed in that. So, this is super, super, super important.

Yeah. So if you don't have much experience to go find it. Yeah. So don't kind of winch to me and say, Hey, I don't have been very experience what I would do on resume, go take some initiative, don't whinge. Get some work experience on your belt that a B if you can't find your first job, get volunteer experience, okay? And sometimes volunteers actually get hired.

Okay, some volunteers actually get hired. So make sure you're out there taking initiative and and, and doing what you can to make your resume look good as well as build your skills as well.
