First point that we've just gone through is General Information section. So this is really simple. Let's just say you live on Smith Street, you put in 21 Smith Street. wherever you live, let's say you live in LA, California. Whatever your zip code is, blah, blah, blah, pretty straightforward mobile phone number. Pretty straightforward.
And you want to put in your professional email address. Let's just go with john smith again. So if you don't want to put in your address, which a lot of my clients don't so what I do is I might put in the suburb gallivant. Make sure it's in center. And then put them on LinkedIn. So LinkedIn.
So yes, that would be an hour move this hyperlink to make sure it's all consistent on what looks good. And that's it, guys. So that's the general information section. So with your LinkedIn profile, you want to make sure that it looks really professional. So you want to customize your LinkedIn. I'm quickly gonna show you how to do that.
And LinkedIn profiles are very common these days guys, so recruiters do look at this. So make sure that your LinkedIn profile is clean. It's up to date. You've got your correct facts correct. wording, you've got your roles and responsibilities, achievements. Similar to resume, you just want to copy and paste a bit and edit a little bit to make it cleaner.
Do that make sure you have recommendations and people endorsing your skills while you're at it as well. And I'll show you how to do that later. So if I go to LinkedIn, I've got my LinkedIn profile here. So you see this URL? That's an exactly customized right now. So I've got kind of zoom in on that.
No icons. Persons viewed my profile. Alright. So how do I customize my LinkedIn? I'll type in literally and Google customize LinkedIn URL. Let's go.
So you click on customizing. Alright, sweet. Pretty straightforward, guys. You can customize your public profile when you change what appears on your public profile. Pretty simple. So when I click on the Mail icon, If I go to, if I do this next to each other guys, I'll make it very simple for you guys to go through all Sorry, I'm blocking it.
There you go edit public profile right there. And then now you have the opportunity to customize your URL right there. See, I can do it must contain three to 1000 letters or numbers. Please don't use spaces. Pretty straightforward, guys. Everyone can do it.
You can do it just looks much more professional. And so make sure you customize that. And we'll put it right here. So we don't need capitals looks a bit silly. Everything's lowercase. Everything looks professional.
We're good to go. General Information section. Guys. Obviously, I'll repeat this a few times. No marital status, no religion, no disabilities, no ailments, no allergies. You remove this one because it's amazing.
Professional and to, it stops you from getting bias, for instance bias to, to to be knocked out. So let's just say put your religion in there, and your particular manager is Muslim who has an offense against Christians, for instance, this would be a subconscious bias. And so you want to remove all that while it's illegal to discriminate, obviously, when you're hiring, everyone's human and I've known many, many occasions. In fact, I just spoke to someone last week who hired based on looks really two candidates, and they chose someone based on looks purely, obviously both equal for the role. And when it came down to it, they hired someone based on their looks. And so, you'll find that there is a lot of bias when it comes to hiring.
We're human. So make sure you try to remove all obstacles to be able to get you at least into the interview stage. Okay guys, we're going to move on to the next section.
