You really can't just rely on the media to distribute and promote your story. As a PR professional, it's down to you to make sure that your story gets absolute maximum traction. That means that in addition to targeting the print broadcast and online media, you need to look for other ways to make sure that your story lands up in front of the right people. Email, you can send your story out to email database, and you can include a link to your story in your company's email signature, if it's relevant, social, publish the story on your social networks, and promote these links via social advertising.
