So how is it that you go about with continued personal development? Well, as I mentioned earlier, there are three steps. And in this lesson, we're going to look at the first one. But before we look at that particular one, let's look at what are those three steps toward continuous personal development. These three include one, your attitude or philosophy on life, to the physical, which is your physical state, your health and your appearance, and three, the mental, which includes the knowledge base that you possess, and the skills that you possess. Before we begin, what I'd like you to do is get out a worksheet that you're able to download.
And that particular worksheet is called personal development reflection worksheet and you can see an image of that on the right side of the screen. Take a moment and get that out. And we're going to fill this in as we progress throughout the rest of this lesson. Now, the first part under your past personal development, I'd like you to take a moment and think about, aside from school related activities, such as studying for classes, list the things that you've done in the last 12 months or so, to work on your own personal development. Have you read any special books that add to your wealth of knowledge and skill set? Have you worked on any particular certifications?
Perhaps? have you gained any experience in a part time job that might be related to your industry, or future career? So what have you done within the last year to help you develop as a person? Go ahead and push pause and complete this section as best possible. Next, I like to ask you, what is your personal philosophy? Now this might be somewhat of a difficult question to answer.
So I want you to take time and think about what your attitude toward life Or what your philosophy on life might be. And keep in mind, you can change this as time progresses, because we all tend to change our philosophy as we progress. So let's talk about attitude. First. This is your attitude towards life, maybe your philosophy of truth. And regarding all people, when things are going our way, it's easy to take credit for it.
These are your accomplishments. Therefore, we take credit for them, right? However, it's just as easy to blame others and the world around us when things don't go our way. When we fail or fall short of our goals. For example, the economy is too bad. The laws and regulations are too strict.
There's too much competition. No one ever taught me how to do it. No one ever helped me, but don't fall into this trap. It is the philosophy of the poor to blame others while it's the philosophy of the rich to blame. themselves, obstacles and setbacks. Well, they happen to us all.
That's just life. However, the important thing is what you do about it, because you can't change the world around you, but you can change yourself. Here are two principles to live by. If you can understand and use these two principles in life, then you will find that success will come more easily to you. And those include, number one, it's not what happens that determines the major part of your future. What happens happens to us all as I just said, the key however, is what you do about it.
What action Do you take to correct the situation and to what you have at the moment, what you have now is what you have attracted by the person you've become. What this means is the successes and failures are really attributed to who you are today. In the successes and failures that you come across in the future will be directly because of the person you are in the future. So, who do you need to become? And when you make the right changes and become the person that you want to be the person you need to be, then you attract the right circumstances. And this is what we call the law of attraction.
Here, new opportunities will present themselves here, new doors will open as you become a new person, as you become the person that you want in need to be. I'd like to leave you with a few things that the great Jim Rohn said. If you change everything will change for you. To have more, you must become more. don't wish it was easier. Wish you were better.
And don't wish for fewer problems wish for more skills. This is the essence of the personal developer MIT philosophy you want to adopt? So start working on yourself today. Next, in the personal development reflection worksheet, we have your attitude and philosophy. In this section, I want you to write a few sentences on your attitude and your philosophy on life. It's entirely up to you on what you write.
There's really no right or wrong answer. And this philosophy will probably change as time goes by, as I've already said. So, what is your attitude and your personal philosophy on life? Take some time to write down a few sentences as best you can to answer this question, go ahead and push pause and get to writing. Okay, so to recap our section on your attitude and philosophy regarding life and personal development. We went over the basics of the first three parts to personal development which are attitude and philosophy, the physical and Mental.
As we went deeper into philosophy, we opened up our worksheet and answered a few questions. First of all, what have you done over the past 12 months to work on personal development, and then I asked you to write down your attitude and philosophy on life. So, let's get ready for section number two on personal development. The physical
