Hi, welcome back to 20 moves in 20 days. Today I am going to show you the Lindy or as it's also called a shaft a ball change. So we're gonna get a little bit more active a little bit more moving today. And I'm excited because Lin DS are one of my favorite setups. I think they're superduper fun. And okay, so before I do that, I just want to review ball changes.
We know these from kickball changes that we learned very early on. But as a reminder, you can do a ball change like this, like this. You can even do something where it's crossed, and today we're going to kind of play with a cross version of a ball change. But all that it is is transferring your weight from the ball of one to the ball of the other. So any which way you do it is fine. Okay, so the Lindy aspect is a shot say and you probably remember this maybe from growing up where perhaps you took dance a long time ago or maybe you were even like It as part of like a just a fun activity.
It's something fun to do. The basic way of explaining it is it's a step together step, except you have a little bit of a bounce to it. Okay? So I'm going to actually show it to you. I'm going to show it even with arms because we're definitely going to add an arms today, and then I'll break it down for you. So I'm going to start just a little bit because the ladies are going to travel side to side.
So I'm going to go shop say, ball change. ball change. ball change. emsa say, ball change. Yeah. So you're moving and grooving.
Okay. So, the shaft a component to break it down. I'm just gonna have my hands on my hips to start is going to be a step together. Step essentially. So I'm gonna step out with my right, I'm gonna chase my other foot. I'm going to chase my right leg with my left like so.
I'm gonna release my right leg. So sometimes how I explain it to littles is, let's say that you want to give your younger sister a kiss, and she isn't super excited about you giving her a kiss. So she's gonna run away. She's gonna go. So this is this is your little sister, this is you trying to give her kids and then this is her escaping, right? So it's together step.
So that helps your, your mental image. I know it's a weird one, but seems to work with the little ones. So we go, step together step. Yeah. And with that togetherness, it comes the little bit of a of a jump. Now, if you're getting fancy, and you want to go really big, you can Oh, man, you can go big, right, you can really use your play your bended knees to get you high up in the air.
It's not required, but you might want to play with it a little bit too. So again, I'm going to go step together, step and then From here, I'm going to do my ball change by crossing my left foot behind my right. And going ball change. Okay, so in this case, I'm going to go up on the back down on the front, right, that's your ball change. Now I'm all primed, ready to go to the left. So I go, step together, step, right, like crosses behind, ball change.
Okay? So I'm actually going to face this way. So you can kind of see it from a different perspective. Hopefully, this will help too. So I'm going to start to the right, I go, step together, step, ball, change, step together, step, ball, change, right, cross, left, left, cross, right. Okay, we're gonna do that a few more times.
I'll slow down just a little bit, and we'll just get really comfortable with this step. Ready? So we have step together, step, ball, change, step together, step. ball change, step together, step, ball change and step together, step, ball change. Good. Hopefully you're feeling good enough that he can just practice it a few more times without arms if you want, but I'm going to go ahead and show you what those are just for fun.
So without actually doing this step, the arms are pushing out to the side. So I'm actually thinking, flexing my wrist. So I really feel a connection. And I just like a little bit. Thor isn't quite the right word, but you feel it when you flex for me at least. So I'm like pushing away, right?
That's my shot. Say, when I do my ball change. I'm going to cross my arms in front of me like this. There are many, many ways to do arms. This is one traditional way but you don't have to do it this way either. Okay, the whole time I'm thinking of flexing those risks.
So it pushes and comes together, pushes and comes together. Okay? So this is shot, a ball change, ball change, I'm going to face you again and I'm going to face away so we can practice together but just to give a quick reminder of what it looks like. I mean, they go shot, ball change shots, they ball change. Okay, let's do it a few times together. Ready?
To the right, I go, shot, a ball change. ball change, shot the ball change, Cha say ball change. Guide. You did it You did great. That is your shot a ball change slash your Lindy and so good to work today and I will see you tomorrow.
