So brief word about this awareness. Previously, we spoke about walking in the park and this pathway into the grass. Now let's say for instance, I go down to the park with my friend. My friend Jeannie and I are just like, actually, that's probably not true. It's more like I'm bored or whatever, and she's just like, Uh huh, uh huh. So anyway, we go down to the park, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada.
And I say some hygiene. today. We are not going to walk on that old pathway. We're going to create a new pathway for ourselves. We're going to walk on an uncharted path and create a new pathway. Okay, cool.
Off we go walking to the park. Well, here's the problem. Yeah, but you haven't you have any of it? Yeah, but yeah, baby. Me. If I'm so occupied with something else, I'm not in awareness in the moment that I step onto that path.
Well, probably we'll be halfway through our walk before one of us goes up. Oh, yes, we will go to walk on this path. Well, here's the thing. Absolutely. Any time when I become aware of the fact that I'm on the pathway, there's absolutely nothing stopping us from stepping off the pathway. We can step off the pathway anytime we want.
There's no rule. There's no requirement that we stay on that path. So just because we've walked off alone, we might go down to the park again tomorrow with Jane and the two of us are walking at Yabba Yabba. My brain has now recognized that I don't want to be walking on paths. But again, it's occupied with something else. So at some point, I'm gonna wake up to the fetter on the path.
Well, the two of us can people from that time When I go down this path day after day after day, and I say to myself, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna walk on the path. And every time I find myself walking on the path as before, I'm creating a new habit. And that new habit is the habit of awareness of not wanting to walk on the path. But it's waking me up to the fact that I'm on. But it won't take very long, maybe a week, maybe two, I don't know that I would come to the park and even though I'm occupied with the chatting, there's a part of my brain that is virtualizing this pay attention. Pay attention to the path instructions.
Pay attention to where you walking. And in some point, it's going to wake me up to the fact that I don't want to walk on the path before I even step onto the pathway. Now if it does that, after a while the two of us were walking on virgin grass. And let's say we were the only ones in that park at some point, the past Way is going to become unused that previous path. Now unused previous call is going to blow some dust into it and the grass is going to start growing over it. And after a while, you're not even going to be able to see that there was a path there at all.
And that's true as the brain will start. To see the brain absolutely refuses to have empty real estate. nerves that are no longer used, will be reused for something else. This is the reason why if you were to go blind, you would find that your hearing and your touch would become more acute as you start to practice learning how to touch your way through life and listen your way through those nerves that previously were used to run the eyes. And to make sense of vision would be re used for sound and for touch. And that is a proven fact.
So the brain hates this empty real estate. It won't allow for integrated state if we had a plan No matter how habitual it was, of where we go thinking, if we start to step off that path sooner and sooner and sooner, and so we're no longer stepping onto that pathway and we're starting to create a new pathway, well, then that path is going to start breaking down. And it will start breaking down to the place where eventually it's no longer in use at all, and the brain reuses those nerves for something else. And the new pathway that we're creating will start to create a myelin sheath around it, those nerves will start to wire together and fire together and we will start to automatically function in a whole new way. Just as if I walk into delta creating a new path, the old one is going to start to grow and be available to me.
So the key here that I want you to start to become aware of is your own awareness of what's happening in your mind. It is only through awareness. If we notice that we're going down a certain pathway, and it's only through noticing that we go down that pathway that we can skip off that pathway. And it is only through stepping off that pathway and choosing a different paths that the old pathway starts to break down. And a new pathway, a new way of behaving of doing business is created. And that new pathway then becomes a new habit.
Easy peasy. Anger is gone. It is not complicated, and it doesn't take all that long. With the other things that you're going to learn in this course, you will find that your awareness becomes very acute, it becomes very instantaneous. It's actually pretty damn obvious what we don't tell ourselves. So stick with it, and see what you can learn about what your mind is that too.
So interesting.
