Hello, everybody. Welcome to this C one advanced cae writing paper video course. In this video lesson, I'm going to give you a quick introduction to part one. That's the essay, right. But before we do that, let's remind ourselves about the writing paper in general. So how long is the writing paper lasts for 90 minutes.
There are two parts in the writing paper. Part one is an essay, you have to answer the question they give you. You have to write between 220 260 words. And part two, you're given three questions. And these questions could be on a letter, an email proposal or a report or a review Do you have to choose to write about one of these questions? And again, you have to write between 220 260 words.
But as I said, we're going to be focusing on part one, the essay in this list. So how long is part 145 minutes? I recommend? Because you have 90 minutes in total, you should spend 45 minutes on part one, and 45 minutes on part two. That means you should take five minutes to plan your answer at the beginning of the essay. Five minutes to check your answer at the end of the essay, which as I've said in previous lessons is very, very important.
35 Minutes to write choice You have no options to choose from, you have to answer the question they give you. A do, you also need to write in pen. And you can make alterations. If you're writing something and you want to change it, you can put a line through it and write it again. But you have to try to make sure that your writing is neat, tidy, because that will be a lot easier for the examiner to read it. And it will give the examiner a good impression about you, which will help you to get higher marks.
So you can make alterations, but try and make your writing as neat as possible. And the style is also important to this part of the writing. And we will look at that more in the next lesson where we're focusing more on the detail the essay You should also write rounds on a separate answer sheet. In the exam, you have the question paper with the questions that you need to write your answers with a separate answer sheet. So just to remind you, these are the four marking criteria, content, communicative achievement, organization, and language. So if you cannot remember, or you don't know what the examiners are looking for, when marking your answer, you should watch my lesson on the C one and paths marking criteria.
