Now let's take a look at the verses. And just like without the speed, you can play each verse pretty much the same every time around. If you're singing this or someone else's singing it. There's also a variation that we'll learn in a separate, separate lecture here that you can insert as a solo or play behind a verse when you want something different. Let's just work on the basic first. So when we come out of the turnaround, that is what we're playing over the seat so we're starting again with that pinch and the same little upstroke with the first finger, he should already have this down.
Now we're going adding a little melody to it. And if you listen to the song or kind of imitating what the voices is singing check the tap on that and see what I'm doing one more time slowly. We're gonna go to an app. The first part of the app is pretty much how we played it before with that pinch 16 second strings. Third in the second string in there. Right here is where we have something different.
We're going to add this band. This is kind of tough and it may take you a while to get the hang of this What you got to do is keep your F shape. And then with your pinkie, you want to get it on the third fret of the second string. And pick basically that while you keep the alternating bass going. So listen to this. One more time.
I looked up and I missed the downstroke on the base. So one more. That's, that's hard. That's it. If you're going to learn any tunes in the key of C that have an F in there, that little band is something that you'll hear. You'll hear a lot.
You can do a variation on that too, and make it a little fancier. Once you get the hang of the basic band, you can try something like this. I'm Benny Weiss It wants but you got to speed it up to keep in in time. So it's then from the air, we're gonna pinch five and two with the C chord. And then we're gonna get that app g to the C into the turnaround. So we got this.
So what you want to do is just what I do a lot of times learning a new song is just figure out what you're going to be playing over each chord shape. And then start putting it together. And then see if you can play the whole thing through. So let's go through the typical verse of the St. Louis Blues. I'll play it real slow. And we'll just review it.
Watch my right hand. Maybe Do one time through the left hand the next time and then try it yourself. Here we go. That's all you do, you may have noticed a couple variations in there, those weren't intentional. You know, I picked once twice or one time I take twice instead of once I hit different strings, you can mix it up and make the same song, playing the same thing sound a little different just by what you do with your right hand. First finger but that's the gist of it, the basic chord progression.
The last lecture we'll look at some variations that you can can use to make the sound song sound a little more a little more interesting.
