There are a few things I'd like to explain about my course before you get started. First of all, please keep in mind that I am teaching my versions of the different songs. I always try my best to stay true to the originals, but it's really hard to play exactly like other guitar players, no matter what the song or the style may be. Many parts of the songs I teach are indeed now for note from the original recordings, but in some places what you will hear and what I will teach is more of my own interpretation. I hope that the many chords licks and concepts that I teach you will enable you to figure out any part or parts of the original songs if that's what you want to do. Second of all, do not become dependent on the tabs.
It's really important that you watch and study the video lectures and pay attention to what I'm showing you use the tab as needed to figure out the more difficult more complex licks and phrases you focus on the tab instead of lessons, you will end up memorizing things instead of understanding. There's a big difference. That's why I don't put the tabs on the screen. I want you to focus on me and what I'm showing and think about. I have done my best to create accurate and helpful tabs for each lecture. But they are by no means perfect, but they will help you figure out where to put your fingers and what you were trying to play.
Thirdly, I expect you to listen to and become familiar with the original recordings of the songs before trying to tackle the lessons. In my opinion, you must know the music and appreciate it before learning how to play it. The songs included here are readily available on CD or digital music stores. If all fails find it on YouTube. I have set this course up in such a way. It really depends on you knowing the tunes before learning how to play them.
When I say original songs, I mean any version recorded by the artist listed in the various lectures. Finally, you should know that learning to play this kind of guitar is not easy. You'll have to invest some time and real effort if you want to learn to play this stuff. At the same time, don't give up or get down on yourself when things get hard or seem impossible. In all likelihood, you're going to struggle with it. And then one day, perhaps a year from now, that will click and you will be on your way.
It took me about a year to be able to play the alternating bass. And here's some good advice. If you have any trouble with a particular song or lesson, set it aside for a while and move on to something else. Come back to it with a fresh mind and you will find it much easier. I do this all the time with songs that I'm trying to learn. All that being said, it's now time for you to get started learning to play traditional acoustic blues guitar.
Good luck and have fun
