Mass lifts comes down with speed and the KFC starts out on the one or the C but then quickly follows this descending base into the a long a and a seventh chord. Let me just play the first part of it and then we'll talk about what's going on here. So we wind up on the A, so what we're doing here, so we're making the C chord with the pinky on the third fret of the first string, and we're starting to tune on the bass with the thumb. So that'll be the first thing you hit is with your right hand thumb. And that little lick what I'm doing is starting on the second string Taking my first finger off the first string and then putting it back on at the third fret. So we got this we're actually pick the first string, second string, first string, little bit.
Then we're gonna just drag the first finger on the core, the first and second strings, keeping the pinky on the third fret before we descend into the base, so the C part at the very beginning, we don't stay on the sea very long. And then we're gonna walk the bass from the third fret, we got our C chord, then we're gonna go to the second fret, first fret of the fifth string, and then the open fifth, which is an A that leads us to our eight Kord these little descending ascending bass rounds and later some trouble string rounds are very kind of a different way of getting from one chord to another, it adds a little complexity to your playing. And I'll try to show you as many examples of these as I can with with the songs. So we start out and then right there, we're ready to switch from the C to the A.
One more time in context. Then we're gonna come down with the patch on the open A string, and the long a chord with our pinky on the fifth fret of the first string. And when we play this, we're gonna be going back and forth on the first and second strings between the fifth fret and the third fret All the while thumping our monotonic bass. Look for the places where you have pinches. We talked about this in the opening part of the lesson in the introduction, the pinch is the key to play in this country, country blues style guitar. Once you figure out this pinches and get a feel for it, this is a lot easier.
So watch this. One more time. So that's what we're playing over the A. So let's take everything we have so far from the one the see you can mix up that pattern going from the a long a to that a seven. Listen to the original tune, he doesn't play it the same way every time. So we're just staying on the A Then after the the bass, we're going to come down on the D seventh.
So we're switching chords again. And the bass now is going to be on the second fret of the sixth string, our D seven. As we thought that if we haven't muted with our right hand palm, it really won't matter that it sounds a little off, it's not a D. It's not like playing an open fourth string. It's actually an F sharp note, but if you thump it and mute it, it'll just sound redneck it'll do the trick. Then with the D, seventh chord, we're going to do a little lifting of the finger to watch this the ring finger. So going back and forth between the first second first strings and we're lifting up the ring finger on the second In front of the first string, so we got this.
That's what we're playing on the date. Let me play it slowly. And then we're going to go to a G to a G seventh and our base now is on the sixth string, and with our G chord and the third fret of the sixth string, we're just going to G G seven. So let's take it from the g7. Right there out of the g7. Taking my first finger off the first strings, we got an open.
Then I'm putting my pinkie down on the third fret of the second string. Got a little melodic thing going on here. So we got this. We're staying on the sixth string, I shouldn't want to do that again. And then right here, we're gonna do a pinch on the C chord. If you pinch it right, you'll get more than just two strings ringing out.
So I'm pinching the fifth string and the second string with my left hand making a C major chord. Not the C with the pinky. Not that long, the regular old C chord. So let me play all the way through one time man slips comes elder speed. And if you listen to the tune, pretty much every verse follows the same, the same pattern. So we got this Over and over again.
And he does have one verse where he just plays the guitar and he doesn't sing and that's kind of the solo, but he's not playing anything different. He's just playing the same thing at least that's on the recorded version that I learned from. So anyway, that is the basic 10 mats lips comes LSP in the key of C, and this is a chance to work on the monotonic bass. The next song that we're gonna learn, we're going to learn we'll take a look at the alternating bass, but for now, it's a good way to get started getting a feel for the chords and also the coordination with your thumb and here Right hand first finger. Now before we leave this we're going to come back and learn the N tech which is kind of fun.
