In this video, we're going to go over the levels of competence. Now we discussed in one of the previous lectures that the ultimate success formula is confidence plus competence, which equals success. So we need to be able to understand the different levels of competence and how we can increase our competence along these stages. So, let's go right ahead and jump into this year. So the four levels of competence are unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence, and unconscious competence. Now, I know it's a little bit of a mouthful, but I want to go over these individually.
So number one, here we have unconscious incompetence. This means that we do not have a certain skill, nor do we even have the awareness of how useful that school could be to us. So just think about unconscious incompetence as the majority of people out there that are suffering from depression, anxiety, fear and doubt is because They don't even know that there is another set of resources out there that can help them become more positive, more confident, right? They're just stuck in this self pity mode, they're stuck in this victim mode. And they don't know that they have other things that are available to them to help them get out of that depression, right, that negative state. And so once you finally become aware that you're not confident, and that you can change that, you move to the second level of skill development, which is conscious incompetence, right?
This is where you start to develop your confidence where you become aware of different resources, there have been techniques, like the ones you're going to learn in this course here. And you're going to be able to utilize those effectively, so that you can start to become more confident. And then we have conscious competence. This is where you can apply a skill, but you have to be consciously thinking about doing it right, where you have these negative thought processes and negative thoughts right going on your mind and then you You can consciously be aware of them and be like, Hold on, wait a minute, let me change these into positive ones, right? And so that's where you have the conscious competence. You see, most people know how to be confident, right?
But it's just a matter of developing this into a habit, putting it into real use. And then the fourth level of skill development is unconscious competence. unconscious competence is where the skill is ingrained as a habit. You no longer have to think about this. And it becomes completely instinctual. Think about basketball players, athletes, right?
That are out there on the court. They're playing and they're doing all these different moves. And you know, shooting and dribbling, you know, passing all these different things and they're doing it unconsciously, they're not even thinking about it. It's all happens natural. And so this is where you ultimately want to get to where you are unconsciously thinking positive things and unconsciously thinking and knowing that you are resourceful and you can get through anything and everything that gets in your way. So I really wanted you to understand here the four different levels of competence and take note of what stage you're currently at this particular juncture.
And for the majority of you that are taking this course are typically going to be at stages two and three, where you have conscious incompetence and conscious competence. So you know that you have the ability to change your thoughts, you know that you can change your thoughts from time to time, but you don't have it as a skill. You don't have it yet as unconscious where you can do it automatically, because you haven't practiced it enough. Or maybe you need certain techniques and tips to help you get this ingrained so that it is unconscious, right. So through this course, you're going to be able to learn different techniques to make this an unconscious process for you. So that's going to be here for this video, and we'll see on the next one.
Thanks.
