In this video, we're going to cover how to turn negatives into positives. So let's go right ahead and jump in here. So negative statements think about exactly what you do not want, okay? And it's really important to understand that oftentimes, when you're saying things that you do not want, it's actually putting a picture in your mind of that particular item. So a simple example would be don't think of a pink elephant or don't think of a purple elephants, right? What is the first thing that you're thinking about?
That exact same thing, right, because you get those mental pictures in your mind. So repeat the following statements internally and become aware of the pictures and feelings that they generate. So don't think about how badly you could screwed things up in the meeting. Or don't be concerned about what your boss thinks of your report. Or you won't need to worry about what could go wrong on your vacation. Notice how automatically saying these things, you're thinking about things going wrong, right things that are happening that are negative, right?
So this is exactly what you do not want to do. So change these particular statements from you to I statements, right? You statements seem to come from someone else. And because of our past history, we will often hear them in unpleasant tonality. You used to do this, you used to be like this. You used to be, you know, a bad person, all these different things, right?
With I statements, they come from ourselves, we feel more empowered by them, right? So we're most likely to hear them in a positive tonality. So think about these statements here. I wonder how well I'll do in that meeting tomorrow. What will my boss like best in my report to him? I wonder how many great things I'll experience on my vacation.
Notice how they're the complete opposites of the first statements here, right. The first ones are completely negative. They are just automatically assuming and thinking that things are going to go wrong. Right now. is just like hopping into a car. And you know taking off to work or wherever you're going and thinking about man, I hope I don't get in a car accident or I hope that you know, people don't cut me off or all these negative things, right that you're thinking about.
And by thinking about those, you're actually putting that out into the world because you have feelings behind that you have mental pictures behind that, right? And so you're creating this false reality, right? of negative things happening. versus if you sit there and you think about, okay, I wonder how well I'll do my meeting tomorrow. And then sit there and imagine and picture all these different things that you're going to be doing? Well, maybe that you're, you know, knowing all your numbers, you're seeing things very precisely and you're speaking super smooth, and it's just rolling off your tongue and everybody's applauding and it's all about how great you are right?
So thinking about things in that type of manner and always looking at things from the positive aspects. Right, it's about reframing things. Number one thing here that you can do with anything that happens to you that is negative or that you're thinking in a negative way, right? is the ability to catch yourself and then re frame that, you know, no, it's actually going to be this, right, these positive things are going on. Because when you sit there, and you just think about all these negative things that can happen, right? You're putting that out there into the real world.
And then that becomes your reality. It becomes that, you know, self fulfilling prophecy. So when you're going to do something, and it may be out of your comfort zone, or maybe a test or something that you need to prepare for, always look at it in the positive manner. I wonder how well I'm going to do in this. I wonder, you know, how many great things I'm going to experience by doing X or Y, right, whatever that may be. So I really wanted to share with you how you can turn these negative statements here into positive ones, so that you can you know, get more positive positive feelings and getting more positive experiences and actually experience positive things because guess what, that's what you're thinking about.
So that's going to be here for this video. And we'll go ahead and see you guys on the next one. Thanks
