All right, now let's take a look at the G major scale. The difference between the G major pentatonic scale, and just the G major scale is that the G major scale has seven different notes. The pentatonic had five, I'm going to show you on the low E string, just like I did with the G major pentatonic scale, how it works. And so you can visualize the different half steps and whole steps that I briefly talked about. So we're going to start on G. Now I'm just demonstrating you don't have to try and play along or anything like that. Starting on G. So the major scale formula, it starts out with a whole step from G to a, that's a whole step because it is two half steps.
So g to a, then it's another whole step A to B. Now we have a half step. Just up to C, then a whole step C to D, then another whole step D to E, notice how I'm on the 12th fret here you see there's two dots there to indicate you're on the 12th fret, then from E to F sharp, there's another whole step, then to end it off, to land back on G is just up one half step. So, from the beginning is G, up a whole step to a whole step to B, half step to C, whole step to G, whole step to G, whole step to F sharp and then half step to G. Now, we will go to the next lesson where I will show you how to play the G major scale in the first position.
