Hello everybody. Welcome back to the first dashboard. In this video, we will see how to create buttons to control these three charts that we made earlier. Let's get started. To do so first, we have to click on one of the charts, but since we group the charts when we select them, by default, a drawing tool appears. That's because Excel is assuming this is a shape.
In order to select just one of the charts from the entire frame, click on the chart once again and that will then select the chart we want. Now it is not necessary just select all three charts just select any one of them. Once done, we'll go to analyze which will be available at the extreme right corner in 2010 and older versions. And once into the Analyze option, we have insert slicer slicer is equivalent to a filter. The difference is that it helps us control the pivots using a button. So let's try it out.
As soon as we click, it gives us a list of options, which are the headings in the master data table. Do we want to see it by weeks or maybe by job types, and so on and so forth. So we have country country codes, etc. Let's try one of the examples. So we will go with countries, and weeks and yearly experience. So there are four buttons in total that we would like to control.
So one is country, software experience, how many years of experience the person has and the weekdays. Once done, click on OK, the first slicer appears here on the screen. Now what we can do is simply place them wherever it's needed, and we can use the alt option to adjust them. So I'll just reduce the column width over here a little bit and using the alt I'll just snap them on to the grids and that should do it. Expand one of the field with a little bit. So that's done.
I'll pull up The other one next to it. Now I'll reduce the height. And that should do it. One below it. And last but not least, the country. So move the year here below the experience and the country up here.
So that should give me an overall understanding of the data and I'll make the country a little bit bigger. Yeah, there it is. So my dashboard, controllers are now ready to use. Okay, now the question over here is how can I control all four of them. Now as we've created these slicers using the first chart, so when I click on any of the parameters, like we say, Monday, it's only reflected in the first chart. We'll try Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and based on what I selected accordingly, recently binds to my data.
Now as we can see, when I click on any of the options, the relevant option gets a little more blurred. So how do we use the slicer once we've inserted and arranged it using the slicer is something we will discuss in the next video. Until then, keep practicing. I'll see you in the next video.
