In this video, we're gonna do a practice exercise with a specific puzzle that's going to test your ability to think outside the box. Remove boundaries that are not there that are just there that you set with this, you set yourself and see how creative you can get and how many solutions to a single problem you can create. Now, it's a really, really simple, very common puzzle. It's called a nine dot puzzle. And that your challenge is you have to use only in only using four straight lines to connect all the dots. And the trick is to not lift your pen.
So you can write these dots on a piece of paper and give yourself about maybe 10 minutes really take however much time you want, because I'd like you to find as many solutions to this as possible. There are many solutions. I know of at least five. So but that's because I kind of know this problem. I cheated so for you, if you Never seen this, it will be a great exercise. So write this down on a piece of paper, pause this video, because in very soon, I'm going to give you the answers.
And I'm going to start going through the answers. And I don't want you to just cheat and get the answers. I want you to pause this video, take a piece of paper, try to solve, write the nine dots on a piece of paper and try to solve it. Okay, I'm going to start giving you the answers in like five seconds. So you have five seconds to pause, and then you'll you'll be able to give yourself a lot of time to solve it on your own. Or if you don't want to, here's your five seconds 12345.
I'm going to start giving you solutions. So first of all, first, when people first try to make solutions to this, they do something like this, right? But remember, you can't lift your pen so you run out of lines pretty quickly. You make a line across the top, from the top right to the bottom right from the bottom right to the bottom, left diagonal and then boom, you're stuck with a pen over there on the top right again, but you haven't After the.so these are the kinds of things that people try. This is when the brain is stressed and it's not creative. And this is when the brain tries to use the simplest solution possible.
Okay? This is where it just uses what it knows, within constraints. Okay? Now let's look at some actual answers. Aha, you see it look at look at the look at the first line. So for example, if you start on the bottom left, okay, sorry, bottom right.
And you go the diagonal to the top left. And you go down all the way but not stop at exactly the bottom left, circle, but actually go and extend the line. You see, the trick to solving this puzzle is to think outside the box literally, and not have that, like you made yourself the boundaries of stopping at the dots. But you have to go down Beyond the dots so that you can connect some of the dots. You see, that's the real puzzle here. But that's only the one solution.
What about other solutions and again, I'm going to start giving you other solutions. But if you want to, you can pause this video, I'm going to give you a couple of seconds, three seconds 123 to pause this video, and I'm going to give you another solution to solutions. So sometimes, you can get even more creative you see, even with three lines, like like the one on top and what have you. And I also didn't say anything about the width of your line if you like the bottom example, if the your line is thick, and we can cover the width of the three, the width of the whole puzzle, you can connect them all with just one big line. And if you had a piece of paper, you can literally draw a line similar to the one of the first picture from across the first across the top row extending to the back All the paper to the front of the paper on the other side to the back to the front of that, it will be just one continuous line, you'll get all of the dots.
So that's how you do it. Okay, so there's so many outside the box solutions. But most of us try to do something like this. You see, and we can go crazy like this. But we try to do things like this. And to see how more there is to the world to this even the simplest everyday problems.
Then the basic right so the more creative you allow yourself to get, you really opened up a world of new things, a world of things that are just beyond like, just beyond your fingertips. There's so so out there for to grab, but sometimes we just don't see it because we give ourselves boundaries. And so your challenge is to live outside the boundaries to you have to live in the real world. But But To break as many unnecessary boundaries as possible and live outside of them. That's creative, daily life. And ultimately, hopefully that's how you actually can become a start of more creative living overall.
