So in this video, we're going to learn how to get this ready for 3d printing. So what we can do is just total that up and take our custom ring for our client or ourselves, right click it and say duplicate collection again. And so now we can turn this one into our actual, you know, 3d printed ring. And the reason we do this is just to stay organized. So if you ever need to go back to the original ring and resize things you have it if you need to change the fonts on the ring, or if you need to kind of get it ready for a 3d printer. So let's turn the old one off.
And let's call this custom ring print that thing. 3d print, 3d printable, and so now we can go into our custom outer ring and add a new Boolean modifier but this time We're going to Union we're going to bring these together and we want to bring in our text. But notice, our text isn't showing up here. Our custom text is 002. And that's because it is still an editable layer. So notice if I hit tab and go to Edit Mode, I still am in edit mode.
So hit Tab go back, but what you can do to lock that in, is to right click, make sure you have your text selected, right click and say convert to mesh. And notice that our custom text layer has now turned into a triangle mesh inside of blender and if we go into edit mode, now it doesn't go back into a changeable text. It is locked in here with all these new triangles, and it is ready to be bonded to our ring. So to do that, let's go back to object mode go to our outer ring. And now if we click on the objects, we can find our custom text to There we have it. So if we turn, you can see it appearing underneath the text here.
And you can see the Boolean has worked. We've got the new union. Let's just turn off our old custom text there. And now we have a 3d printable ring. Let's go ahead and lock everything down. So let's hit Apply on this Boolean and apply on that Boolean.
And we can get rid of everything else in the scene. We don't need our light. We don't need the inquiry. We don't need the custom text anymore. We definitely don't need the camera and we don't need the Bezier curve. So now we have a fully manifold mesh we hope.
So in the next video, we're going to be going over how to check this in our 3d printing toolbox and get it ready for 3d printing.
