Okay, so we briefly touched on eating local, homegrown food in the last section, this section, we want to go into a little bit more depth around it, and to educate ourselves so that we're able to put these things into practice. So it's practical for us as well. Because let's be honest, some of us are pretty busy. Maybe this is the reason why you watch an online course rather than being there physically. And we may not have all of the time to be able to do this around our families, or work or business, etc. So it's a good idea to be practical.
And there's loads of ways we can be practical with this now, because of what I touched on in the last session around multinationals, etc. We have now got the ability to get everything that we need instantly. But if we're doing it from a place of knowledge, and from a place of where we know where those things that come from, they come in law And they grown in season for the time view this for us, then we can start to gain more balance and harmony within our systems. If we haven't got an answer, specially if we have not got the time to be going and grow in our own food, we haven't got the space even because lots of us live in flats and stuff. Now, we may not even have a garden. So there are still ways to do it.
Even if you don't have a garden. Even if you live in a flat and you work in 95 or 99, whatever. There's still a way to do it. So one of the things that we recommend to people is to go to your local farmers market. These are standard spring up everywhere now. They used to be very popular years ago, but now they're getting even more popular again.
So that's a fantastic place to go. Not only to get your your fruits and vegetables, but it's good to start building a community of people of like mind especially you must be into nutrition in to be watching This. So if you're into nutrition, that's a great place to go to start finding people in your local vicinity. So where that are also into nutrition as well, you can pick up little tips, especially from the farmers, they've got so much knowledge on the foods which are grown locally, how they grown, where they grown, if they use fertilizers or not, and if they're organic, etc. and farmers markets are usually the places to find those people you can find even specifically organic farmers markets, in these markets, these growers, small usually small to medium sized businesses. And you get to know the people that are actually growing your advantage.
I love it personally. Because when I turn up to the farmers market, you get to know the person that's actually growing your vegetables, you get to know that ethics, their values, and it's a very nice thing to know that what you're eating, of where it's coming from exactly where it's coming from. Who's grown it from what seed and I personally get a lot of satisfaction from and I think you will too. We've lost touch because of things like supermarkets. We've now lost touch between our growers because obviously the supermarkets are in touch with our growers. They supply the supermarkets and then we are faced with a woman on the Casio the teller, which may also not know, the growers because she's not the buyer for them.
She just simply working on the checkout. Whereas when you go into the farmers market, a lot of the time you'll find that the people who serve and you have actually picked those things out of the ground in the morning. Like I said in the last session, the longer our food has been out of the ground or off the tree, then the more depleted the nutrients get. So it's very good idea to go into places where they're picked freshly. And you know they've been picked that morning because they tell you they've been up since two three o'clock in the morning, picking that badge and getting it to the farmers market. Just for you, it's very satisfying.
And it takes us by so and we don't even need to grow it ourselves for that. But we still get an organic fruits and vegetables which are grown locally and seasonally and we know the growers. So try that. That's a little tip. local farmers markets are the way forward. And next to that is going your own and like I said, just now when you farm, I say above that actually throw in your own.
If you live in a flat, I mean, if you live in a flat, there's still no excuses because we can all have a window box. Jamie Oliver is very famous for his window box of Herbes. And when he's been doing filming inside this flat, you can see him go into his her box and just scan his herb. So we can all do a little bit of experimentation like that. And we can grow like microgreens we can grow like sunflower sprouts, and we can put these things in salads to give them that extra nutrition. Because we know that those sprouts, and those herbs are going to have that much more nutrition, especially than things that are non organic, and they haven't grown with the love and affection because we've grown in ourselves.
That's just a little, a couple of little tips on how we can start to gain the most of our out of our nutrition by going local and seasonal.
